You are right! The trail club does a fantastic job of maintenance, shelters and markers. Did the STS in July during the drought. Really had to camel up every chance you got because many sources were bone dry. Got my certificate and thru-hike # and they invited me to a banquet in October. Great people in that area. Saw only 2 other hikers the whole time. Great adventure! Thanks for the video!M

I remember in April you were debating on which trail to do this summer. Awesome you got to do the STS and congrats on your certificate for completion! Yeah it sure was a dry summer! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment!

@@Hiking.Inspired correct! After your description of Donut Hole opted for STS. Heard a story at the Susquehannock Lodge where I stayed the night before that a guy stayed there, did the loop in February, went back the lodge turned around and did it in reverse. Crazy! Lots of cool pics and stories at the lodge.

Dude....when you were in Hammersley if you had hiked about 1000 feet further south you would've hit the most perfect site! I hit it all the time. Great hammock spot as well as an awesome tent site. The pool is good too though. Great video. Makes me homesick for the STS.

I seem to always find the better spot the next morning haha! Luckily the STS has a good amount of decent campsites. The Hammersley area is a beautiful place! Thanks for watching and the comment!

I remember the park staff being very welcome and friendly at the office, they’ll take care of you well. The trail is marked great and I’d say it might be the most pleasant trail in the area. Have a great time out there! Thanks for liking the video☺️

Watched this video a few times already this year. Great video to get a feel for the STS before I start my own thru hike. I can’t wait! Oh and you really need to try and get out of Pa. That’s my home state and I do most of its trails each year, but some places are worth the 6-8 hour drive (Smokies, Whites,…) for a very different experience!

I had no idea there were so many shelters on the STS. That's pretty cool. I'll bet listening to a Stephen King book is better than reading one. I've read a few of his and sometimes I get bogged down in his dialogue, as there tends to be a lot. Really enjoyed the video, Jeremy. So well produced, brilliantly edited, great music choices. You do such a great job on these and should have so many more subscribers. But... the world is a cruel place, haha. At any rate, thanks for sharing these adventures with us.

Maybe if I made a video of “Things I wish I knew before I started backpacking” or “Top 5 sleeping pads of 2022” I’d get more followers. Not for me though. I make these for the creative outlet and to remember them. It’s a bonus some people out there enjoy and make use of them. Thank you so much for the support! That motivates me to make more though☺️ I’ve been enjoying your channel watching you advance are well. Keep it up!

Great trip! Those stars must have been so magical! I did the STS way back in 2012. I don’t recall any shelters. That’s awesome they built some for the trail. I enjoyed watching! I remember spook hollow going up cardiac climb and the dynamite shelter! Are you gonna do some trips outside PA? Catskills? Dolly Sods? Thanks again for a fun, enjoyable video!
@Hiking.Inspired

Thanks! They do a great job keeping that trail inviting and in good shape. Yes I do plan on heading up to the New York area. My understanding is you need a bear canister for a lot of the high peak wilderness stuff. Dolly Sods is a little bit of a haul for me but there are some nice long trails down that way to make it worth the trip!

Another great video, looks like you had a great trip! Im also trying to venture out of the weekend end warrior stage and do some longer trips next year. Was thinking the STS or Quehanna this spring. In your opinion which direction do you think this trail would be better to travel “elevation profile” ?? I personally do not like long descents due to some frequent IT band issues! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!🙂
@Hiking.Inspired
@Hiking.Inspired 2 жыл бұрын
I think CCW has more accents. I remember coming down into Ole Bull Star Park was rough and the downhill on Cardiac Climb was another. It’s hard to avoid them all when hiking such a lengthy trail though. Toughest part of Quehanna trail I’d say is coiming out of or down into Mosquitoe Creek. It’s a much more forgiving trail and just as beautiful. Either trail would be a great adventure!

Hi Jeremy I enjoyed your video. I have been looking at this trail and may try it for a 100 miler. I live in NJ. Is there anywhere to resupply and recharge battery pack along the way? May do the trail in April or May. Thanks

The trail goes through the small town of Crossfork. It has a general store, bar/grill, post office, and lodging. If you start at mile 0 at Denton Hill State park off route 6, Crossfork will be at mile 49. Hope you get to get out there! Thanks for the sub!

@@Hiking.Inspired thanks for the input. Last year Outdoor Vitals had a 100 Mile Challenge and I took part and completed the Batona Trail located in the Pine Barrens of NJ, I did a NOBO/SOBO. It was part of a goal I had to do at least 80 miles the year I was 80 years old. They are having the challenge again this year so I am looking for another area with a little more challenge, but not overly hard. I would appreciate any input.

@@davidson_oldbull_sectionhiker The newest map they have at the park office was the best I came by so far. If you contact the Denton Hill State Forest I’m sure they will send you one. You can always pick one up when you get there too. Alltrails worked just fine for me on that trail. I haven’t tried any other apps recently enough to say another is better. The trail has so much love put into it and is marked so well that you’ll find you won’t be checking your maps and gps much!
