This is when writing was so good. The love stories, mystery and intrigue unfolded over time and always left you wanting more. You cared about the characters whether you loved to hate them or hated to love them. Today so much of it is in your face so quickly and you rarely care what happens to a character because the writers don't offer much of an opportunity it.

Not till years later was he Mr. Big. Really crappy how the writers ruined his character. The actor Bob Hastings hated that storyline because it was the end of his tenure on General Hospital.

Joe went to school with Rose and are approximately the same age. He was very angry that Rose chose to marry Paddy because her family was dead and she needed someone to care for her. He also didn't like Paddy marrying her when he knew her reasons. Joe can't deal with it.
