What is sustainability? In this explainer video, I present a simple definition of sustainability based on environmental science and natural cycles, as well as the four root causes of un-sustainability (the 4 things we need to stop doing for become sustainable).
If this is useful to you, please subscribe: alturl.com/jc8u6
To learn more about The Natural Step, read "The Natural Step Story: Seeding a Quiet Revolution" by Karl-Henrik Robèrt: amzn.to/2VfCwLy
We hear a lot about sustainable development, sustainability, ecology, climate, global warming, people planet profit, triple bottom line but can we define what sustainability is and how we can achieve it?

A sustainability definition is important in order for people to speak the same language and make sure they are all working to achieve the same goals. This sustainability definition is inspired from the sustainability principles put together but an international non-profit organization called The Natural Step. Another sustainability definition is the one provided by the Brundtland commission: sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations

assar58 Thanks for your comment. The content of this video comes from the research by Swedish doctor Karl-Henrik Robèrt (founder of The Natural Step). You can find a lot of information about him and the organization online www.thenaturalstep.org. He wrote dozens of scientific articles, he created a consensus among scientists on what first order principles for sustainability would be. There also has been several books written about The Natural Step (for business, for communities) that you can find online. Please don't hesitate if you have more questions.

THAT'S GREAT THAT YOU'RE BEGINNING TO INCORPORATE SOLAR ENERGY INTO YOUR MODEL, YOU SHOULD ALSO INCORPORATE POPULATION DENSITY AND GOVERNMENT WASTE, BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE TWO MULTIPLIERS ON THE WHOLE MESS, WITH CLEAN ECOLOGICALLY LIBERTARIAN GOVERNMENTS AND LOWER POPULATIONS, THE PROBLEMS WOULD ALL FADE AWAY OVER TIME.

You so obviously have no idea what you're talking about when explaining thermodynamics or the conservation of mass.
