Absolutely agree! BRICS+ taking the lead in promoting textile recycling is essential. However, it's equally important to shift the cultural mindset around consumption. Sustainable practices need to be embedded in our daily lives for true impact.

I know very little about fashion as an industry, this clip informed me greatly on this industry's impact on society beyond just "consumer tastes and preferences". I had no idea how large its impact was on resource allocation and waste, totally eye-opening, thank you Anastasia. Keep up the good work. As a side note, it seems to me that the Milton Friedmann "greed is good" mantra has been widely embraced by the fashion industry as a whole, and "fast fashion" is the obvious devolution of such a mind set in a consumption driven world economy. The "invisible hand" is really clearly a visible middle finger to compassion and generosity.

Fashion on the mainstream runway during Fashion Week has been turning more and more disturbing, with negative and often offensive imagery. The question is how is BRICS+ proposing an alternative with well-designed, well-made, attractive offerings? Unfortunately, the indigenous styles from BRICS+ countries do not have the reputation of being "cool" "hip" etc. Would love to join a BRICS+ fashion initiative if there is one.

Most of the clothing available in the American general retail stores have extremely thin materials now and the female clothing is designed to sexualize even the young girls. It's really disgusting and probably contributes to our landfills greatly. I hope these new efforts in fashion with BRICs work to help with some of these issues. Thank you for your great information, Merry Christmas!

7:15 it’s my opinion on the Fashionable one, it’s the street style version hadn’t changed with the jeans or slacks simply being. The Fashionable version was quicker changing with the seasons every year, I thought it too much change is to waste the Water that was dyed in the industrial design. It is the Wayward of the Fashionable version mixed with the Environmental Protection, for last long term of fabric use that used on the Clothing we bought to save money and the environment. It’s the economy is normal now for the moment of the inflation era. 7:15

I worked as a fashion photographer for many years, now retired, I am ashamed of the way of advertising of various brands without any ethical feeling, pure decadence and in very bad taste. In my opinion, people who buy the new haute couture creation simply do so out of sheer snobbery to wear a fancy brand and wear it just once. I think the BRICS fashion will bring a very positive aspect and will return to the old fashion, the true one.

Fashion is a way of spreading your culture and ideas about how you see the world it is important we rest this from the West. Nike is a Greek God of speed, where are the alternatives to them? I am sure global south can come up with something we managed without Europe for thousands of years it is only the last 500 hundred that have been a pile of ???? and corpses.
@ThinkBRICS11 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree, fashion is a powerful cultural expression! While Nike represents one perspective, there's huge potential in the Global South for unique brands. Success lies in marketing, as seen with major brands. BRICS countries have an opportunity to harness soft power strategies to showcase their creativity.

Fashion is a multibillion dollar industry & a very important one because the manufacturers produce similar styles & the cost goes down. It's a very efficient system. Japan used this strategy to succeed until the mid-80's & young girls loved it too........Today, fashion sadly became more individualized & imports flooded the market with poor quality clothing. It's confusing to see different styles at once.
@ThinkBRICS11 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree that fashion's efficiency once lay in its unified styles. Now, the focus must shift from mere style to combating pollution and overconsumption. Quality and affordability can coexist, creating a sustainable, accessible fashion future. It's time for a change!
