Title: Sustaining revival by fanning the spirit of Love
Text: 2 Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye, not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Beloved, the theme 'Revived to be Revive' could also be rephrased as “Staying alive to keep others alive”, to be alive to burn everywhere like the testimony of John the Baptist, a burning and shining light in John 5:35.
Declaration: No chaff will survive around you. May you remain a burning and shining light. No one will ask who you are. You will get to a place and the atmosphere changes.
According to the title of the message, you cannot be a lover of God and be cold concerning the things of God. Love is a fire and no water can quench it
2 Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourself in spiritual things and see if you're still in the faith.
We live in a generation where you cannot vouch for anyone. No one knows you like yourself.
How do you know you are revived?
1. When your heart begins and continues to seek for God in genuine repentance. - Jeremiah 3:3
We live in a generation where many in the church don't know the meaning of a repentance spirit; where people find excuses for their wrongdoing.
You must name that sin to tame it.
Today, we describe sin as mistakes and that is why we are wallowing inside it.
Genuine repentance is one great factor that brings about revival. Genuine repentance is when the hearts of men are melted and truly sorry for their sin. Repentance must precede revival. Personal repentance will give you personal revival. Maintain brokenness of heart and contriteness of spirit. Psalm 51:17, Jeremiah 66:1-2
God will not waste His time with people who have no regard for him. God wants to see genuine humility in our hearts. - 1st King 21: 27-29
Joel 2:12-14 - Keep your conscience awake. If we repent he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Jesus made a provision for escape when we sin. We must not forget that even though we are born again, we are bound to be tempted (Matthew 6:13).
One way you know you are truly in revival, is when your heart is repentant.
2. When your heart begins to pant after God with passion or get addicted to God. Living like you cannot live without God is akin to the attachment of a drug addict. There must be something inside you that is moving you towards God every day.
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you wake up in the morning?
A lot of things have taken over our hearts today as against God taking over our hearts. - Psalm 42:1
Are you still passionate about God? or has He become secondary in your life?
3. When your consciousness is towards making heaven.
Everything else on earth here without making heaven is religion. The ultimate journey of a believer is going to heaven.
Colossians 3:2
If you are not thinking of heaven, you have lost your revival.
Matthew 6:19-21
If you want to be conscious of heaven, sow seeds towards the promotion of things from heaven.
4. When the spirit of prayer and supplication enters you on a daily basis. - Zechariah 10:12, Romans 8:26
We should develop the heart of the three Hebrew boys and Daniel who didn't compromise but chose to serve God. Love for God is the fountain of revival.
Romans 10:26
Mathew 24:12 - Through compromise, the love of God is dwindling in the heart of men. We are going through a very big contest of love. If you love God, you will hate sin. If you hate God, you will love sin. Anything you condone will soon condone you from the goodness of God. Beware of compromise; People are bowing to idols today.
We are going through the test of love. James 4:4
The friendship of the world is the enmity of God. Don't want to be liked by the world but to be loved by God.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 - From such who love themselves more than God, turn away from such. Sadly, everything has its counterfeit today.
Revelation 2:4-5
The highest demand from God to us is to love Him. - Deuteronomy 10:12-13.
John 21:15-17 - The greatest demand from God to us is LOVE.
Love determines the direction of your life. If you truly love God, no one will be you to serve God.
1 Kings 3:3 - Love gives direction to the heart of man.
And it’s because of his love for God, he operated in the class of the prophets. When Solomon prayed, fire came down.
Solomon's love went where his heart followed.
High echelon moments with strange women turned the heart of Solomon away from God. When he loved strange women, his heart left God. Until God wins your heart, it cannot command your followership. If God can get your heart, your giving to God will not be a problem.
Why people can't give to God today is because they don't love God.
If your heart can be stirred up for God, then you will not mind giving up everything.
