Sutekh EXPLAINED in under a minute

The whole "God" aspect is easily explained. He has lived so long that he has convinced himself he really is a god. Also, given the way the 4th Doctor defeated him, making him "The one that waits" makes a hell of a lot of sense. Time has finally caught up with the Doctor and tomorrows problem is finally today's problem.

There have already been a lot of theories and some hints to a connection between Sutekh and The Beast, so you could interpret them as aspects of the same being in some way if you want. Both have been named as the basis for Satan, have power of possessing people, are voiced by the same actor, and Sutekh was even recognized as "The Beast" by Carla.

I just look at it as his ego. He views himself as a god (probably a capital G). The Toymaker and Maestro acknowledge him but don't seem to indicate he is one. I have heard some people think be because of his jackal headed appearance RTD is bringing in the expanded materials, like the comics. Maybe with his new powers and everything he's been through he some how worked his was up Jacob's ladder to godhood?

When I watched the episode I had no idea he was a classic villain, but I wasnt as offput as some might have been, because I at least know who Set is- I'm somewhat familiar with the Egyptian pantheon. But it's cool to know more of the classic shows history!

I think Sutekh was trapped on Earth as his burial chamber with him in it was found by the archeologist Scarman in 1911, his brother intercepted a signal from Mars, which is where the Eye of Horus is beaming a signal locking Sutekh in place.

I’ll be interested to see if they stick with the “superstition at the edge of the universe” explanation that was given for The Toymaker’s return and seems to have been accepted as the reason why The Doctor has been dealing with so many supernatural threats recently, given that we first saw a character with Susan Twist’s face at the start of Wild Blue Yonder, before the whole thing with the salt happened (plus, if Sutekh also turns out to be “The Boss”, then he was active even before that.)

The way I've always viewed classic who is that the general events are all canon, but the details aren't necessarily canon. Especially in terms of the sets and costumes

Yeah, although spin-off media for the most part explains this, and things like the cybers and daleks it's just new models. I really consider everything Canon until it actively contradicts the main show. Especially Big Finish and Novels have always been pretty faithful to what the show established

In fairness the canon has not been re-worked massively, Osirians are an exceptionally powerful race in Doctor Who that they can be considered Gods or fitting vessels for a God at least. The Faction Paradox series explains them well. Also that trick the Doctor pulled never felt like it was enough to kill Sutekh. I mean Sutekh lived for milennia before they met the Doctor, are you trying to tell me 7000 years would phase him?

Time Lords had weapons that can destroy entire universes, time and space, dimensions and all of creation. They had weapons that became or made by Gods like Omega, Rassilion, The Other or The Moment from pre Time War or Post Time War eras. I mean even the Doctor absorbing the time vortex from the Tardis. Would make himself a God or even any time lord absorbing the Tardis. Sutekh saw them all as mere ''ants'' and he would easily destroy them all without any effort due to his almost limitless power. The Tardis has impenetrable shields that can withstand the power of the Big Bang. Yet Sutekh being restrained in his tomb using a projective image of his face from his mind alone. Not just penetrated the shields but he almost destroyed the Tardis as well. Meaning a restrained and limited Sutekh can destroy the entire universe just his mind alone.

My biggest question now Is are there two Sutekhs? As 14 and 15 both have a tardis. If Sutekh has been there the whole time. when 15 made a copy of the tardis did he also copy sutekh? Or did he jump over to the copy tardis?

Even if Sutekh is now involved and presumed to be the master of the toymaker etc., what’s he got to do with the snow or Ruby’s mother. Also if the 14th doctor scattering salt at the edge of the universe caused an increase in supernatural activity and somehow freed Sutekh from his imprisonment, how was his presumed agent (Susan Twist) appearing in Wild Blue Yonder BEFORE he scatters the salt?

Technically none of the Pantheon are truly Gods in the biblical idea of a God. God, in this case, is a title. They’re powerful and feared beings, considered, worshipped and feared as Gods. Sutekh, in the eyes of many and the Pantheon is seen as someone who is above them all or is someone they’d choose to not fuck around and find out with. Sutekh threatened the entire universe, by the way, lol. Not just Earth. You’re underselling his threat just a little.

For the God thing, look to the Asgardians in Marvel. Thor states they're not gods and he does it several times. Then Odin reminds him that he's not 'The God of Hammers' but the God of Thunder. Loki, of course, calls himself a god. Then gets mushed by the Hulk. An Alien so powerful they can be considered a God is probably as close to God as we'll ever get. So why not term themselves one?

I’d say the contradiction is more in ability level. We went from “guy who can die of old age” to “God above all” who can wrap his essence around the Tardis without being spotted.

@@CouncilofGeeks Treu. But the Doctor was sure the time tunnel would kill him. He's been wrong before.. Anyway, my fear is that, in the current climate, the Doctor HAS to defeat him. With his power, that's a heck of an ask and may diminish the character to pull it off. He's one of the great one time villains, like Sharaz Jek or the Daemons. Bringing them back risks diminishing the threat they were. Just look at the Master in the Anthony Ainley days...

This was a rubbish reveal in an even worse season of Who. The big twist was Sue Triad Technology is Sutekh? So the anagram was you take the words, get rid of most of them, then change nearly half the remaining ones? Yeah that was dumb. Almost as dumb as the finale
