It's wild that the show was removed within 6 months of release. It's not like it costs money to keep it in Disney+. The show was pretty ass, so I understand them wanting people to forget about it. I bet after the first month of release, it didn't get 100 views a day. I watched the first 2 episodes and couldn't help but laugh at how terrible it was.

The only reason why I missed FNT today was for Godzilla Minus One. So, need to talk about this movie. All I can say is Godzilla Minus One is amazing! It not only reminded me why I love Godzilla but it reminded why I love movies; solid storytelling, fully developed characters, excellent soundtrack by Naoki Sato, and excellent visual effects. It's the complete package with a bow on top. Takashi Yamazaki and Toho made a great movie on a $15 million budget that is better than any of the $250 million plus budget trash that Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, WB, DC or the rest of Hollywood have been producing the last 10 years. It puts them to shame. My pick for best movie of the year. I hope that this is the start of a new era Godzilla movies by Toho Studio. Get out there and support Godzilla Minus One!

@@mrmxyzptlk8906 I would argue that No Way Home and the Batman were anomalies not the norm in current Hollywood before & post Endgame. Can't comment on the quality of the Batman because I didn't see (not a fan of Pattinson). No Way Home was pretty good but you had two studios that had to play nice with each other and it struck a good nostalgia balance with Toby Maguire & Andrew Garfield. Some of the stuff with Dr. Strange bothered me because it set up the shit show that was DS2: MoM with Stephen Strange bungling his spells which goes against his development by the end of DS1 and Infinity War. They regressed his character because plot dictate it.

It was pretty good; very much worth seeing on the big screen. The movie has a lot of heart in it, something that Hollywood has seemed to forget about it. It's worth a see for certain. It is a foreign film, and if you can't really do subtitles you may struggle a bit. Although, there's enough visual spectacle during the action moments (they did a good job of making Godzilla feel like a real menace) to probably keep your average person's attention.

I think your brackets are trying to say too much, but yeah i think the idea that "The exclusive right to profit off of a work of literature" shouldn't be recognized. If the creator wants to give it up, let him take bids for whoever wants to work with him to develop the story further as a consultant but otherwise send it to the public domain
@DavidWilliams-ig5ec

Agree with the first point but not the second. Without IP laws to protect creators, nobody can legally own/protect and profit from their work and then create more. And, yes, that means corporations like Disney, but also people like Gary or Chris G. Otherwise I could just start running Nerdrotic or Film Threat Ts and profit from their work by exploiting their IP.

He repeats the same boring/casual takes every dang time as you basically mentioned. He will tell a one minute story in five minutes. Why? Because he has to plug all his crap every time he says anything. And on top of all that, he usually leaves early and of course takes another chance to talk about everything he is doing. Why the hell even show up when you contribute so little? Not to mention the times he makes it much worse like the episode with Graham Nolan and Kelley Jones. Sorry for the rant. Also I have to agree with despero in that The Originals is clearly better than Vampire diaries; it's always interesting when a spinoff surpasses the original in anyway. Also, the spinoff to the spinoff, "Legacies," was not only lacking in story, it also forgot how the magic system works; I'm a big magic and power system guy, so it's an unforgiveable sin to me, although they did use it in a few cool ways, like the "head dives," which the whole fanchise seems like it forgets most of the time. Eitherway, nice stream guys.

Studio interference that was for the better: Back to the Future - Originally the time machine was supposed to be made out of a fridge and the means of returning to the future was going to be having it get nuked at an atomic test site Tremors - the studio demanded Michael C. Gross be cast in the film because he was just coming off of Family Ties. Now he basically is the Tremors series Predator - the studio insisted the movie needed more action so they pushed to add the scene where they fire wildly into the jungle Conan the Barbarian - the voice over was supposed to be Arnold but the studio insisted on it being done by Mako Deadpool - last minute budget cut caused the team to remove all of the gun play from the final fight. Hence forgetting the guns in the cab and having to get creative Clerks - the studio insisted that Dante shouldn't be killed at the end

I know I'm odd man out here. I'm very old-fashioned, and I am an old movie buff. The reason I love them is they are intimate and story-driven, with tremendous acting. I love the facial closeups and character development in them. I don't mind when the story slows, if I see excellent actors play off each other in a cerebral manner. I know no one here liked Loki but I did like it, I really liked the characters and interplay, and scriptwriting, and not everything was CGI driven - but when there was a great CGI scene it paid off. Marvel at first had a wonderful balance of excitement and story, but they have forgotten how to do this. I wish Marvel would start writing more scripts that didn't start with - hey, how much can we throw at an audience with a computer, and instead had more intelligent scripting. And the goal was the character, not preaching and social justice, which is incredibly irritating. As a child of the 50's, that is one of the main differences in the scripts - characters were supposed to achieve personal growth, not to preach at an audience how THEY should behave.

I disagree with one thing. While we don't want preachiness sure, the point of story (epic heroic story anyway) IS to tell us how to live. It gives you an example of how Man abs women shots behave in different circumstances and gives you something to aspire to. The communists understand this which is why they're trying to remove anything positive to be aspired to, so the society is more easily conquered because wet mm done don't have any heroic masculine or feminine adults left

The man in the mirror syndrome. And of course the reason we all love hero movies, and I love comic books and read them incessantly as a child, is they ARE our marvelous heroes. I get furious when our new Disney overlords completely tear down that which we love, for no reason than I suspect THEY are jealous of the creation. But no one should just be bestowed perfection, one of the major problems with the modern MCU and especially the M-SHE-U. Poor Loki never understood until the end the difference between god and God. They have done so much damage to the franchise and their own reputation with parents that they can’t even count on original trilogy products to make money. Can you imagine being a major stock holder and watching your shares lose 70 percent of their value when the company controls so many of the greatest intellectual properties in history? I'll let you have 10% of the land i stole from you back!", for example, if your enemy said that, you don't have to listen to them. There are a few parts in the Bible eg Gideon chasing down and killing fleeing enemies for a whole day, and Samuel killing a POW, that tell me that our modern sensibilities are not exactly right. @@cosmictreason2242 Nope they are not. Not only do we know that Japan was using peace feelers to try to ask about surrender terms, but everyone in the US government knew they would surrender. They said they were not accepting surrender because Japan wanted to keep the Emperor and then after the bombs they AGREED. “General Dwight Eisenhower, in his memoirs, recalled a visit from Secretary of War Henry Stimson in late July 1945: “I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives. It was my belief that Japan was, at that very moment, seeking some way to surrender with a minimum loss of ‘face.’” Eisenhower reiterated the point years later in a Newsweek interview in 1963, saying that “the Japanese were ready to surrender and it wasn’t necessary to hit them with that awful thing.”1 In fact, seven out of eight top U.S. military commanders believed that it was unnecessary to use atomic bombs against Japan from a military-strategic vantage point, including Admirals Chester Nimitz, Ernest King, William Halsey, and William Leahy, and Generals Henry Arnold and Douglas MacArthur.2 According to Air Force historian Daniel Haulman, even General Curtis LeMay, the architect of the air war against Japan, believed “the new weapons were unnecessary, because his bombers were already destroying the Japanese cities.” “General MacArthur believed that Japan would have surrendered as early as May 1945 if the U.S. had not insisted upon “unconditional surrender.”9 MacArthur was appalled at the Potsdam Declaration, issued by the U.S., Britain, and China on July 26, which threatened “utter destruction” if Japan did not surrender unconditionally. As his biographer, William Manchester, wrote: “He knew that the Japanese would never renounce their emperor, and that without him an orderly transition to peace would be impossible anyhow, because his people would never submit to Allied occupation unless he ordered it. Ironically, when the surrender did come, it was conditional, and the condition was a continuation of the imperial reign. Had the General’s advice been followed, the resort to atomic weapons at Hiroshima and Nagasaki might have been unnecessary.”10 Others appealed to the president to back off from his hard-nosed demand. Former president Herbert Hoover visited Truman on May 28, 1945, to argue that the best way to end the war quickly was to alter the terms of surrender. According to Hoover’s biographer, he told Truman, “I am convinced that if you, as President, will make a shortwave broadcast to the people of Japan - tell them they can have their Emperor if they surrender, that it will not mean unconditional surrender except for the militarists - you’ll get a peace in Japan, you’ll have both wars over.”11 There were, in fact, early drafts of the Potsdam Declaration that offered assurances of the emperor’s status, but these were nixed by Secretary of State James Byrnes, with whom Truman agreed. Members of General George Marshall’s staff argued in June 1945 that any clarification of the term “unconditional surrender” must be written in the form of “an ultimatum” and not in a way to “invite negotiation.” It was assumed that the American public was in favor of this inflexible position. Admiral Leahy, on the other hand, “said he could not agree with those who said to him that unless we obtain the unconditional surrender of the Japanese that we will have lost the war,” according to the June 18 meeting minutes. “

Dune isn't "unfilmable" (I hate when people say that) and it doesn't necessarily need a TV series to work, though it would allow for more time developing themes and characters (but also running the risk of adding additional crap that doesn't belong there). They just need to focus on what is important in the book and stop adding things to it that aren't in the book. One of the problems with Dune Part 1 was not spending a little more time on Yueh and why he betrayed the family, which was supposed to be impossible because of his training. Dr Yueh is a pivitor character, as is all the suspicion flying around as to who could be a traitor to Paul's father. Yueh is barely in the movie and his betrayal fell flat. In the book it isn't meant to be a twist since we get his thoughts early on about why he is betraying them and how the Baron was able to overcome his conditioning to accomplish it, with false hope of seeing his captured wife again.

@cosmictreason2242
@cosmictreason2242 8 ай бұрын
@neonthunderbird those are very different owing to the fact that they're not at all similar in application, that would be like saying monarchism and anarchy are similar systems because both have only one sovereign ruler over the individual. But you're half right: "Now if we take the step, it involves losing what we now call our "selves." That doesn't mean that all people who accept Christ are going to be exactly like one another. I know it sounds as if it did. If there's one Christ, and He's to be in us all, actually replacing our personalities with His own, what difference will there be between us? Now here I've got a rather difficult thing to say. On the one hand, it isn't true that we shall lose our personal differences by letting Christ take us over. On the other hand, I don't think Christ can take us over as long as we're bothering about what will happen to our personality. Let's take the first point first. If a person didn't know about salt, wouldn't he think that anything with such a strong taste would kill the taste of all the other things in any dish you put it into? We know, as a matter of fact, it brings out the real taste. Well, it's rather like that with Christ. When you've completely given up your-self to His personality you will then, for the first time in your life, be developing into a real person. He made the whole world. He invented it as an author invents characters in a book, all different men that you and I were intended to be. Our real selves are, so to speak, all waiting for us in Him. What I call my "self" now is hardly a person at all. It's mainly a meeting place for various natural forces, desires, and fears, etcetera, some of which come from my ancestors, and some from my education, some perhaps from devils. The self you were really intended to be is something that lives not from nature but from God. At the beginning of these talks, I said there were personalities in God. Well, I go further now: There are no real personalities anywhere else -- I mean no full, complete personalities. It's only when you allow yourself to be drawn into His life that you turn into a true person. But on the other hand, it's just no good at all going to Christ for the sake of divinity or for a personality. As long as that's what you're bothering about you haven't begun, because the very first step towards getting a real self is to forget about the self. It will come only if you're looking for something else. That holds, you know, even for earthly matters: Even in literature or art, no man who cares about originality will ever be original. It's the man who's only thinking about doing a good job or telling the truth who becomes really original -- and doesn't notice it. Even in social life you'll never make a good impression on other people until you stop thinking what sort of impression you make. That principle runs all through life from the top to the bottom: Give up yourself and you'll find your real self. Lose your life and you'll save it. Submit to death, submit with every fiber of your Being and you'll find eternal life. Look for Christ and you'll get Him, and with Him, everything else thrown in. Look for yourself and you'll get only hatred, loneliness, despair, and ruin." -CS Lewis

@neonthunderbirdbind as in connect two things together. Same root as ligament or ligand. Nothing unusual to a Christian to think that all other religions have demonic influence, the book even says so explicitly. It's highly ironic that your proposal is actually the Gnostic conspiracy. Should read "sympathy for the devil," a blog post about the aronofsky noah film that explains the script's actual inspiration. Ironic because that's not the truth, that is itself a false religion invented by demons. So i would say watch out not to fall for that. A little knowledge is dangerous. For example how you highlight the bad. Boy, you have no idea how bad it would be if all the restraint from Christian influence were removed. Gotta look for that. And history isn't finished yet. LOTR wouldn't be a great story if there wasn't a challenge for the ordinary people to face because Eru had fixed everything back in the first age. We are here on earth to push back the darkness and take over the world for/through/with Christ. The story of how secularism was defeated by the church will be at least as exciting as the story of how Europe was saved from mohammedanism at Tours and Vienna, and Puritans created America which Christianized the globe. Oh if your eyes are dark you don't see it, and it's not all happening at once. But the abolition of formal slavery is an example of Christianized culture. The civil war itself is a great story with larger than life figures. The defeat of Marxism, feminism, gehness, abortion, environmentalism, and predatory hedge fund takeovers of corporations in pursuit of an apocalyptic death cult (the aforementioned) is going to be a great story. We get to be part of it. None of the bad stuff that happens compares to infinity. That doesn't make it meaningless but it means it's not of ultimate significance. You can only have evil if there's an absolute universal standard of good anyway. The fact you think children suffering is bad is your conscience and culture telling you that God is real - specifically that what the Bible says about him and the world is true. You have no ability to even bring a criticism apart from the Biblical Worldview being true. Get christpilled brother
