I was a backer of Star Citizen well before it was announced that Hamill would play as Steve Colton. Squadron 42 will test my ability to 'suspend disbelief', as I struggle to separate who he is pretending to be from the very public celebrity, who rails against my 2nd Amendment civil rights while profiting from the gun culture he has contributed to. His open contempt for all of us who voted for Trump is another disappointment. I understand that he is friends with Chris Roberts, so I knew it was a possibility he would be included in the project, but I am going to be cringing the whole time I have to hear his voice ripping me out the game experience. Not at all. It's the vehicle that allowed us to see who the real asshats are. Early on in the development of the internet (1983-ish), one person described the newly emerging tech as a "personality amplifier". Without social media, how many would even be aware of people like Elon Musk or Joe Rogan? To me, the amplification of toxic personalities like De Niro and Baldwin is a good thing. The whole point of actors is to play a character. The moment they took to twitter, expecting their political and social views to be insightful and influential to the unwashed masses, they ceased to be untouchable Idols and instead showed themselves to be foolishly out of touch.
