I want to go to SUU bad!!! However, after doing some rough math, I came out with about $150,000 for school and flight training. I can't afford that!!! Also hate the idea of going that much into debt! D:

Andrew, we understand. However, we encourage you to think of it as an investment. Pilots have an outstanding return on education. Of course, it's best for you to decide what's best for you.

Hi, great info by the way 👍 and thanks. My question concerns citizenship and costs for the course. I am Australian and live here as well. I spent 20 years in California without becoming a citizen. Is it a hard and fast rule that one should be a citizen before studying there? And what is the cost of the two year program? Cheers Jo.

Hey! Unfortunately, we're currently not accepting international students for the rotor program. We would like that to change, and have applied to accept international students, but the government approval process to make that happen often takes years to get approved. We are, however, accepting international students for our A&P mechanic and airplane pilot program. You can find our price breakdown here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWnFnpmrgMirmpo

I’m 3 years done outta my 4 year contract in the air force I really want to use my GI bill to do this program only thing is I’m 6’3 190 and I plan on putting on muscle am I not a good fit for the industry? My goal weight is 220
@brockd12183 жыл бұрын
Honestly it would be better to stay at around 190 if possible. You are certainly able to do the program if you’re over but it requires the larger aircraft and the difference in price is about $10K per semester
@SUUAviation3 жыл бұрын
Great question! It will be cheaper if you weigh under 190 pounds, however, you’re still able to fly if you’re over that limit.

I already have my Bachelors degree and I'm looking to switch careers into flying helicopters. I'm also a veteran (40 yrs old now) and only have a few months left for my GI Bill. Looking at different possibilities for where to do flying. Looks tempting and seems to hit all my check boxes for what I need. Would I be able to just skip the general education classes and just do the flight ones?
@SUUAviation2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jason! With our school, a degree must be pursued along with your flight training. However we do offer Associates degrees with flight training. Your Bachelors degree will transfer in probably a majority of the general credits, so you would only really need to focus on Aviation core classes. We have heard of students using their GI Bill on the more expensive parts of flight training (Instrument, Commercial etc.) If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to us at aviation@suu.edu or 435-586-7862

How hard is it to get a flight spot?
@SUUAviation3 жыл бұрын
It’s not difficult at all. You can apply here: www.suu.edu/aviation/apply/ We do recommend applying earlier rather than later for your preferred semester, for the best chance to get that spot.

What's the acceptance rate into the actual pilot hours portion of the program?
@SUUAviation4 жыл бұрын
We don't have that hard statistic Steven, but definitely the majority of those that apply make it in. The biggest cause of not making it is failing the medical exam.

Is a greencard not enough to be able to do this? Why does it need to be a citizenship?
@SUUAviation4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you'd need to be a citizen. It's a federal regulation so there's not much we can do about it. We've been trying to get through their approval process for over a year, and expect it will take much longer based on how it's gone so far. Wish we could say otherwise honestly!
