The dire financial circumstances ignite a remarkable survival instinct that results in something so bold that its repercussions are still being felt today.
The brand takes their design expertise and engineering insights into uncharted territory and introduces their first SUV -- The Cayenne.
The faithful nearly faint; How could Zuffenhausen’s best do the unthinkable? How could the Ferdinand Porsche’s descendants do the unimaginable? For the die-hard Porschephiles this is blasphemous at best.
However, it doesn’t take long for the naysayers to be proven wrong. Just a single year later the Cayenne becomes the brands best-selling machine ever. Its success saves the most storied sportscar marque in the world and today the brand is flourishing.
They’re doing so well that now a multiple of other sportscar or sporty sedan manufacturers have copied the same business strategy and introduced their own SUVs.
Now Porsche is poised to reinvent the game they started with the introduction of the latest Caynne - A sportier SUV that is never intended to go off road. Instead, the machine boasts a 400 horsepower engine and a zero to sixty time that’s two-tenths of a second quicker than a base 911 Carrera.
