The man apparently made some mistakes along the way, and if you're in an unsecured relationship and you so much as attempt to discipline your children, the other spouse can use it against the other one in court, just speaking hypothetically. And that's enough for the US courts to issue a temporary restraining order preventing him from seeing his kids and the woman. My problem is, youre not married to her, and your first child has a disability, why did you go have another child at the same place? But still, mo matter how bad the kids as pawn game gets, live your life. After 18 years, you don't pay her anymore money.
