This is a quick and brief walkthrough of how to dismantle your carburretor from your bike.
Please ignore my terrible sense of humour and I hope you enjoyed watching.
This video was made for help and assistance which I will post up on Banditfroum.co.uk and possibly bikechatforums.com. I'm known on both as haroman666.
Questions and queries will be answered as soon as I can, please be patient.
I'm not all knowing though so likelihood is, I dont know!

You may need to adjust your pilot screws. They can be found at the bottom of each carb. You'll need a small flat blade. Set them all to 1.5 turns out (Starting from fully turned in) and if it sounds lumpy, feel the heat of each exhaust header to kinda gauge which isn't firing as much as the others. If you fiddle about with the pilot screws until it becomes smooth then you're sorted. 1.5 turns might not be enough so if the idle is too low, set them nearer 2.5 instead. Hope that helps

I couldn't find ANYTHING on these carbs. it took me longer than it like to say to figure out the the first part of these. when I bought the bike the carbs were already disassembled. thanks!

You need to get yourself a multimeter to read the voltage from your battery. It could be a number of things but the most likely culprits will be the battery itself, or the regulator/rectifier. You can torrent a workshop manual for these bikes and it tells you a lot of information on how to diagnose. I suggest you get a multimeter and the workshop manual :)

Ahaaa what up dude :) If what i've been told is correct, then the factory 1.5 turns is slightly lean for normal running, and as I said; was only for emissions I believe. So i've set them at 2 turns now and it does idle smooth. Rev's okay too, once warmed up. I can get a vid of running/idling tomorrow hopefully if you like. I'll link you in your thread on BCF :D

The black hose/pipe that connects to the upper center rail on the carbs where does that pipe go to on the bike from the carbs? I know the lower black pipe is for the fuel feed from the tank, but I'm stuck on where the upper pipe runs to, any help would be Appreciated, Thanks

Great video. Any idea as to where the tube coming from the air box goes?

Hope you found that o-ring haha! Also, never knew about those pilot settings but surely it will make it run too rich/lean? Can you video it after to see what its like idling and revving with that adjustment. Mine are at 1 3/4 I think, or was it 1 1/4... Can't remember but mine are coming off and having lots replaced cos they are a bit funny. HD from BCF :)

Where should I connect the hose that comes out from the top of the carburetor (not the fuel line)? Because the hose is missing in my bike..

mine was doing the same thing. almost exactly. would have to charge every 8 days or so and would not want to start after driving for about 15 minutes if i shut it down. odds are its the battery. i would replace it right away

Hello again, I adjusted the pilot screws under the carbs, The bike does run abit better now, but sometimes my bike dies when i try to pull off, it still runs but it doesnt respond to throttle and if i close the throttle it dies, it sort of just "bubbles", The way i get it going again is by slowly closing the throttle, when this happens is it the engine flooding or is it not getting enough air or something.

hey I have the Bandit 250cc version, same carbs i think, what does it mean if the bike runs rough at low rpm, but picks up when more throttle is applied.

That hose, goes to the bottom of the tank. Where the drain hole in the fuel cap goes down a pipe through the tank, to that hose, spilt fuel just gets fed straight to the carbs. I haven't connected this hose, as it causes problems in wet weather, where water goes down the drain hole and straight into the carbs. It's not worth your while getting that hose as is causes more problems than it's worth. Silly design by Suzuki IMO. I dont understand it really.

Hey man. At the top of your carbs there is a pipe coming out (above the fuel line) Is that the vacuum line that connects to the fuel tank? My bike has the pipe removed

AgilePeanut Yeah that's the drain hose for the filler cap over flow. (Assuming you're on about the similar size pipe as the actual fuel line?) The main fuel feed goes from fuel tap to the bottom carb rail. The small diameter pipe is your vacuum pipe which should go from the manifold rubber to the fuel tap. The other pipe which goes from bottom of the tank to the top carb rail is as I say: fuel drain hose. I took mine off cause rain got in the carbs and kept fucking the bike up leaving me stranded!!!

Haro man Thanks for the reply. I'm stripping my carbs now and I found that 2 o-rings were lying on my counter which u didnt mention. I can see one in your video at 5:06. What are they for and where are they from? I can't find the other 2...
@burningtheangel

AgilePeanut If you take the top covers off the Carbs (The black plastic part) There should be an O-Ring to seal the hole for the balancing tube/channel. If you pause at 0:57 you can see the O-ring beneath right where it's meant to go. I wouldn't have thought losing these O-rings would affect the running of the bike but it will probably mean you wont be able to balance them due to pressure leak in the balance tube/channel. So take your top caps off again and look on the underside of the caps to see if any of the O-rings have stayed there, and look in the little circular groove in the top of the carb also! Hope that explains it!

I also was interested what is that pipe on top of the carbs for, because on my bandit 400 don't have any hose in there when I bought it and I didn't know what is use for. So is also for the fuel. I will connect a hose there only to prevent water go inside. A few days ago I saw in a clip on youtube with the start of a bandit 400, where a guy says that must be connected the vacuum hose.

I broke the copper tube that goes to the choke assembly. You have any tips on finding one of those?

Thanks! The airbox has 2 pipes coming from it. One on top, that goes forward to the Cam cover is just an air filter, and there is one on the bottom which is just a fluid drain pipe, which routes straight down near to the bottom of the bike. There's no "tubes" that interact with the carbs apart from obviously the airbox port holes. HTH
