Yes - I was able to get that idle under control... I ended up completely rebuilding the top end. One of the pistons had a stuck oil ring and I replaced the cylinders because they were pitted... so after that she ran like a champ. Ended of selling it and now I'm onto rebuilding a '95 GSXR... Yes - Please do! I need to post my follow-up as I made significant improvements on it since this one... just can't find the time to do it. I've moved onto to re-doing an old Porsche... there is definitely another cafe build in my future though... two wheels are much easier than four!

good question - I'm looking for $1,800 right now but the longer I keep it the more I do to it... that's the beauty of these bikes - you can always change and improve. It would be nice if someone local bought it and that way I could help maintain/improve it.

That's great! Move quickly... there is a cafe bike event up at Road Atlanta this coming weekend so there may be some good candidates up there in the cafe village. Also, I always check Craigslist for old bikes. Not sure how mechanical you are so you may want to start with a running bike and then convert it over. I am planning to sell my bike at the cafe village. I find them to be just as much fun to build as to ride... need to move onto the next one.

I hope you got the idle under control sounds like she's riving out pretty good. awesome paint job though! $75 cafe... Nice! I approve, partially because it's a GS too!

LOL - Was it that obvious? I'm now doing a top end rebuild on it and will post the follow-up run from that - can't wait to get back out there. Found out the oil ring on the right piston was stuck... Thanks for the comment!

Anyways, here are some of the models I look for... Suzuki GS models, Honda CB's, Kawasaki Z series. Also, you can check out George at Barrow Cycle Works... he has a graveyard of many bikes if you've got the skills to raise the dead...

Regarding my jets with the pods... Slow/Idle jet is 25 and the my main jet is 140. Hope this helps... it is a trial & error process. I tried several Main Jets before settling in on this one.

Hey dude Im in Austel and looking for a firstbike/ cafe project. do you have any leads or recommendations for your boy? I figure I have about a grand to spend for the bike and everything eles will fall in place as time and $ will allow. I gotta hurry b4 the wife changes her mind.
