The gs750 was a watershed bike for Suzuki-their first 4 stroke 750 that not only took them away from their traditional 2 strokes, but that demonstrated their commitment to this new world of high quality, high performance, high specification bikes. It did everything as well as the best of the rest and as a package it stood above the pack from its launch in 1977.
This gs750 came into me a little while ago from my friend Bob Green in Ohio and it had clearly been laid up for many years.
It was a non-runner without brakes and clearly hadn't had a life of love before it was parked.
It's last change of owner had been in 1987 I suspect it wasn't long after that, that it went into its long-fortunately dry- hibernation.
If you have any 60-70's bike needing a new home, or that would make a good story, please mail me on rodcurrie88@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.
Thanks, Rod

I bought a new 1979 GS750 that looked exactly like this one. I paid $150 for the 29 Mikunis I installed. The bike gave my friends, with 900 and 1000 Kawis, fits!

From '77 to '81 I rode one (my 3rd bike after a T500 and a GT750), and it was by far the best. After that interest in riding subsided for almost 40 years, but, as you well know, never will there a vaccine be developed for the motorcycle virus, so, when corona appeared, I bought a Honda CBF600SA from 2010, nothing to complain about, all new technology, but the memory of my GS750 lingered on, so, sold the Honda, and in April I bumped into a blue GS750 from '79, with only 33K on the clock, for 3400 euro's. I haven't made much trips on it, as the bike needed new tires, chain & sprockets, 4 new spark plugs, crash bars, put in a new K&N air filter, brake pads, adapted a GiVi luggage rack, originally meant for a Honda CB750 F2, to fit my Suzuki. Also a new steering lock (meant for a Zundapp moped) -but it fits! Have the Dynatec electronic ignition here, that will be installed in due course, and I'll have my carbs ultrasonically cleaned in october. New oil, filter and clutch plates are to be done too. Thank God they're easy to work on, these classics, with that new Honda I couldn't even reach the spark plugs without removing the half-fairing and tank, pffff..

Hi Ray. Thanks for watching. These GSes are great bikes and really handsome. You certainly did OK with your bike and get the fun of bringing it back to a nice spec too. I rose a GS 1000 back in 1980 after not having a bike for maybe 4 years and was blown away by the grunt. The 750 is thought by some to be a nicer bike.... but I like them both. I've 2 750s just now thaty I'll be posting some vids of over the next wee while . best, Rod

@@rodcurrieclassics8102 as far as I remember they were the same bike, due to emissions regulation they lost some power and trying to compensate increasing the displacement.

Hi Allesandro. In truth I don't remember us getting a GS 500-4 but I may be wrong. "Our" 500 was a twin. I'm preparing for a avalanche of " yes we did you idiot" . Thanks for watching
@alessandrocerioli2151
@alessandrocerioli2151 11 ай бұрын
@@rodcurrieclassics8102 yes the twin 500 is more famous, but I am pretty sure Suzuki offered a 4 cylinder GS500 in 1977 and 1978, at least for the Italian market....it was quickly replaced by the 550.

Back when T reg was in..... It was horrible orange but that didn't mater because I stripped it down and restyled it as cafe racer with loads of chrome and polished alloy and a heavy metal flake paint job.

Hi Dave. Yes, the 70s have much to answer for colour-wise . I had an A10 as a teenager in the 70s that I wanted to cafe up...but couldn't afford it. It was sold and cafe-ed up anyway. ...Luckily there were usually enough mainstream colours in most models to make them acceptable today. These GSes are such handsome bikes that they look great in blue, black or burgundy.Thanks for watching
