@@shubr66 Sorry bro, somehow, i didn't get alerted to a response from you and I'm late to the party. lol But anyways, better late than never. I'm 6ft.2in. When i got it, i had the gear shift moved to another position that suited me just a little bit better on my ankle, at the dealer, before picking her up. Nothing else was done and she's as comfortable as my living room easy chair, IMHO.. lol The upright position with a sport bike look, is exactly what I wanted. I love it and she's still going strong with zero problems. I did add a power commander 5 to smooth out the throttling response to near perfect now. I put on an M4 full exhaust and she sounds meaner now. But i will say that I kept the stock exhaust just in case. IMHO the stock exhaust on this bike is the best sounding stock exhaust i've ever heard. It's not bad at all. I put the M4 on her, simply because i had bought the exhaust before i got the bike and rode her for any length of time. So i had to switch. But thinking back now, i probably would have just kept the stock exhaust and saved the money for something else. Oh well, that's life. Ride safe. Cheers!

I’ve been riding for 50 years; long and hard on many (many!) bikes. Here’s the odd thing. I have absolutely zero loyalty to a manufacturer. Kind of like each one for different reasons. However, when I look back, I happen to have owned more Suzuki’s than any other brand. Literally, I’ve put over 400 000 kilometers on Suzuki’s- with almost no problems. That testimonial aside, the brand seems to have never been able to market itself in a way that attracted diehard loyalty. Maybe that’s what attracts me to the brand - they don’t trump performance with pretentiousness?

Indeed. Suzuki is one of the very few manufacturers which really made bikes according to the reality. Others were just making bikes for the insecures who worry about their looks or status when sitting on something with two wheels while giving them headache later when it is broken. It is exactly true that Suzuki are not the summit of performance that others can top it in this particular subject, but still it is undisputed that Suzuki is one of those which are the best in practicality and reliability. The reality is that the majority of us riders want to ride with less annoying problems that hit us frequently and the fact that almost everywhere have what the bike needs without much waiting for us when a problem to the bike arise.

I've had one since 2015. Every day commuter in Los Angeles. Excellent bike. Very nimble in traffic and narrow enough to cut lanes. Had to get rid of the stock mirrors because they seem to be at the perfect height to klunk car mirrors going by. The throttle is jerky on the 2016 but I understand they addressed the issue in following years. Very reliable, very affordable. Nice bridge between sport and touring. I have a BMW S1000RR for track and canyon - awesome but pain in the ass to commute. I've crashed a couple times on the GSXS and it hasn't costed me a fortune after the fact.

The Quacker is some 20hp down on the Gixer k5-k8 street tuned. Brakes and swing arm straight off the R. New chassis lighter even than the R. So say no more. Yep raw is an accurate descriptor and it don't have as much throttle snatch as previous models. It's still evident but one gets use to it quickly, mid corner especially. It's still a bit lean low down so i would say not quite 'perfectly fueled' but close as. i had my 'gsx s1000Z' at 200kmh the other day and it got there oh so quickly. i'm like F##k me and back off. Yea the gearbox is a peach and clunks hard into first when thoroughly warmed up. The Fatbar is generally preset at 2.5 and moving to 1.5> does away with much of that forward motion. Yep down shift lightly (you can go full on here but not worth it unless on a track) using slipper clutch to match engine speed effortlessly is so cool. Well this S will beat the R briefly from standstill, don't believe me well google it. Yep one of the best brake trailing bikes I've been on. Those Brembos once mastered are so good. In TC 1-3 the bike is so easy ride. Turn it off and your just asking to loose your licence. Yea it just screams twist my throttle, learn how to ride it sedately (IE ignore the call of the wild) and it will do anything you ask of it. BTW it goes berserk at 7-8k rpm in true K5-8 fashion just not quite as berserko as the 'R'.

Just picked up a leftover 2018 GSX-S1000F. I tell you, the Suzuki is a hell of a value. The engine, the handling, braking, and overall feel of the bike is top-notch. I think it is the most supersports like performance of the 3, but I tell you it is comfortable too. Really think hard about the Z900 and look at the gear ratios. If you want a wheelie machine maybe the Z900 would be a good choice... but otherwise I've heard complaints about the stock gearing.... it is rather short for the torque of the bike.
@fyorbane4 жыл бұрын
@@justinsmith1001 Never had a problem with the Z900 gearing you mention. It has tremendous low down and mid range punch [more than the CB1000R] and handles a treat. The GSXS 1000S and F models are great bikes for the money but they need a bit of an update since they have remained unchanged for years now. The dash is a rather dated cheap looking [the Z900 has a lovely full colour TFT] affair and it could do with a quickshifter. Still a tremendous bike mind you.

I’m fixing to buy one of these a 2016 with 3k miles on it and a shorty pipe and after martlet levers and a fender eliminator kit! I wanted a new one but don’t want to spend that much slightly used is fine let someone else pay for the break in.

Mark - I've watched quite a lot of your videos and they describe every bike very well - so your videos are useful to watch, but I have noticed you never seem to critics any bike? Every bike has negative aspects but you never seem to mention them. For example you describe this bike as having ample leg room - which was similar to your comments on the Verseys - They obviously both don't happen to have similar legroom. Anyway keep up the good work and thanks for your efforts.

I have one now for 2 years now.. Same colour but added a tail tidy, tank protectors and phone holder. Kept the exhaust as it looks good enough IMO. My only criticism is the mirrors. Cannot tell you how many times they've worked loose whilst riding fast (uses two counterscrewing nuts that lock it into position, except that they don't) Actually keep two short spanners just for mirror duties. Other than that and slight snatchiness on throttle, it is a lovely thing.
@geebee3415 жыл бұрын
You must have got lucky. Most of these have fueling issues. Snatch and constant speed hunting. PC V and throttle tamer did the trick. It's not so dangerous during low speed maneuvering now. Nice video thanks. i have 2018 Z version tail tidy and R11 yoshi. Take it past 6000rpm with TC off and there is nothing civil about what happens then.
@markpulling125 жыл бұрын
No didn't get lucky , apparently Suzuki changed the throttle mechanism within the last year which has improved the problem thanks Mark

Picked up a 2016 model with 5100 miles on it last month for £2500.($3050 U.S ) Bargain! It's a monster, sounds amazing , even with the standard exhaust and it really handles! I just piss myself laughing every time I ride it. Short shifting is great fun, there's so much torque, but rev it out and it takes off ! It does 90mph in first gear. Hilarious. ( I apologise to the folks who ride GSXR's and who are used to this engine, I'm still a noob )
@kfkwAL72 ай бұрын
It doesn’t do 90 mph in first gear. 80 at a push but still incredible, just like the price you paid, must be the cheapest ever.

I bought one last July (from Crescent @ Bournemouth coincidentally) and love the bike although I found the throttle at low speed/low gear a little like trying to restrain an angry dog. I found a specialist tuner who has put in a lot of Dyno time with these and has developed a postal re-map service which turns off and disabled all the limiting Euro 4 features. The throttle is beautiful now, it's a night and day difference. It's not blunted the throttle at all, still razor sharp but nicer. Best £250 I ever spent on a bike. You'll find Junction 33 Developments on Facebook - facebook.com/DynoDude

I think this should be a bike to compare to the MT-10, these are much less expensive, but doesn't offer cruise control.

Continuation from above; this booster plug “told the ECU that it was 20deg. lower than actual, this helped partially, Suzuki would not own this problem, a pity, perhaps a ‘power commander’ and a dynamometer would have helped, I lost interest, so check it out.

I currently own 2 Suzuki bikes, and would love to test ride this one, but hey Suzuki, why no cruise control? How much does a switch and some extra wiring cost?
@markpulling125 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed cruise would be great !

I believe it has no cruise control because it’s a sports bike for the older person who struggles with the ergonomics of a crotch rocket!

I really appreciate your reviews mark. Very informative videos. I'm looking for my first sports tourer. I like a more upright position, especially as I'm 6'2". Looking at this bike (2018) or a Kawasaki Z1000sx (2018). Which one would you recommend?

Great review. Just signed up. So, I have a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 sports tourer. It’s been fantastic, faultless to be honest. Think of upgrading, should I go the new Ninja or this Suzuki as it looks very similar? Thoughts? Thanks again

one other thing, you said that you change your bikes a lot. do you buy new? i know people trade in cars within 3 yrs so i suppose that it is not unusual but i tend to keep bikes for quite a while so as not to suffer unduly with depreciation much as i would like to keep changing.
@markpulling123 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian no ....not normally new generally a year old like new so I don't take the initial hit on depreciation :)

Nice bike. A shame they haven’t updated those indicators. Same ones on my two Suzuki’s and the don’t even have reflectors inside of them.

You can make reflectors out of tinfoil and put inside, I did it on my GSX1250F.
