My first brand new motorcycle was the second one and currently what I have. A 2013 Yamaha Stryker. Kind of bored with the speed and handling and was super close to getting a new 2020 Suzuki Gsxs1000f, hopefully next year I could get something more sporty. Otherwise a low costing used sports something

What I loved about the '90s 1000/1100 bikes is that they all were uniquely different in styling dept. While I ( mostly...ish) like today's bikes, they look much more similar, and less separation, between rivals. Still identifiable, but less and less. Even up to early 2000s lots of distinct looks. But today's rivals are so similar.

As a disciple of the Holy Order of Sacred Green, I've often wished Kawasaki did an 1100 version of the ZXR. Twin round headlights and big CCs: perfection.
@makan1568
@makan1568 Ай бұрын
I still don’t get it how Kawasaki put so much weight into ZXR and ZX-7R. Especially P version. Weight almost 240 kg wet. Freaking ridiculous. At the same time we have big boy GSX-R 1100 carrying the same weight. Both bikes looks beautiful and I’m on the hunt for ninja. Never had a privilege to ride Gixer 1100.
@kwakkers68
@kwakkers68 Ай бұрын
@@makan1568 The ZXR was created before the drive for minimal weight came into vogue (the Fireblade being the commonly accepted marker for change in road bikes, which is probably debatable); so I don't think we should be surprised that the ZXR wasn't lean. But it was the best bike in its class at the time, and drop dead gorgeous. But I agree with you on the 7R - it was/is baffling as to why K would pass off on the design, being so weighty. Thinking about it now, as I type this, I wonder if it was cojoined to the 7's famous front end grip - and someone high up didn't want to lose that element - seeing it as being consequential of the (relatively) high weight? Surprising that non of the usual suspects in Bike media have attempted to get an interview with the design team to try to get to the bottom of this. Interesting, isn't it :-)

owned a brand new 1990 750. I really want a 1990 1100 in black, but they are hard to find in good condition so I just got a deal I couldn't pass up on a 1991 zx11 in very good condition. I prefer the look of the gsxr, but I am finding my zx11 to be a more comfortable ride than the gsxr750. I recall the sore wrists, buzzing hands, and cramped legs. Performance is better than the gsxr1100 according to specs. Zx11 has lower center of gravity. But the 1990 gsxr is the most beautiful bike ever made. I still want one.

Good review. Just to let you know my GSXR-750 SRAD from 1998 also cooks the rider in urban traffic. It gets seriously hot. I only take it out on days where the temperature is 21C or below. It has a sole coolant radiator whilst the new GSXR-1000's have an additional oil radiator cooler. But the old school body styling with the bigger front fairing and twin headlights has lots of appeal.

Currently got a stock 1100 K with about 10000 miles on the clock, fantastic bike don't really have any issues with the heat coming off the bike with city riding as I also have a 91 Triumph Daytona 1000 and that roasts your legs in the summer. When I brought the GSXR I was actually looking to buy a Slabby originally but a decent one in the UK are currently going for anything above £7000 but found the K fir a really good price so couldn't say no, Also have a 84 GSX 1100 E which is a fantastic bike, I have owned and ridden modern bikes but I now find them a bit boring as there are too many rider aids getting in the way, also Its always better when the metal in your garage is going up in value and not down.

Back in the day that bike was the boss !! The size and displacement was very intimidating. It was always considered a straight line bike. Got one 1989, it is a real hell cat, comfortable to drive and has good handling even for drivers how do not cut kurves on the edge of their knees. It is old but has quite a cool design, it is still reliable but long rides in sqaut will dear to fell your knees, beeing honest as an average rider you won't be a jokey for a periode of more than 20min to 30 min, so this shouldn't bother anyone. Sofar I can just recommend this bike even if I am not used to modern supersports bikes and this one is not light wight with their 445kg as shown on the identification plate but it has enough reserves to transport your grilfriend and packs, if you want to and got one. It is clear, it is not an Ducati and not state of the art but quite awesome. Pure riding without the pretty little helpers is also something yould could interpretated as somekinde of a feature.

I have an 86 GSX-R1100, blue & white (as they should be😆) 38,000km and mostly stock except for a yoshi 4 into 1 a YSS rear shock and valve emulators. The electronic anti dive was starting to give issues, so i blanked it off and fitted the valve emulators, world of difference😄kept the anti dive units on for a original look but they are non operational, and a period Yoshimura 4 into 1. If i could find an original exhaust i would buy it, even tho they are restrictive. Ive had it since 2000 and used to have a 89K model as well. The 86G model is lighter by 20kg makes a bit less power, due to being 1052cc against 1127 for the K and has smaller carbs. The Ks handling was always a bit...iffy, and Phil Mellor crashed and died on one at the TT due to poor handling at race speed, Jamie Whitham, also on a 1100K also crashed badly. The K was responsible for production bikes to be banned from racing at the TT for years. I ended up selling the 89 and keeping the 86. Theres no school like the old school.😂

The 90' " L " model was 👍👍👍... regardless of the 89' " K " model which had suspension issues, made 138bhp where the 90' made 143bhp and the 89' had a 17In where the 90' had an 18in...

Great review thanks I still have my 1100 - l model bought it in 1998! I’ve just pulled it out of its auto cacoon and am throwing a bit of coin at it, first up I’ve just got new dynatek ignition and coils and I have a brand new set of 38mm smooth bore flat slides on the way 👊🏼 I do get the sore wrists these days so would love to know we’re you bought your 1inch risers from, my bike is also the blue and white such a great bike

GSXR 1100 is a great bike, but in my opinion the RF looks better. I wonder is it possible to swap the carbs and what effect will it have?
@Adikxx
@Adikxx 6 жыл бұрын
Swapping carbs wouldn't work bud. RF has different setup as it's a downdraft type. In gsxr they put horizontal type.
