I have the same bike and I do all my work and I love learning from other also right now the only problem I'm having the the check engine like is on for the stva and I'm looking for the part the down fall is I drilled out the butterflys. What are the switches for?

Sorry to hear ur having issues bro, we all go through it, what kind of world would this be if everything was perfect.. haha. The switch panel, well that controls my air duct fog lights, blue halo around the fogs, fan, and Voltage meter on/off. You know, all the must haves..lol.

What size are those two bottom bolts you had taken out? My bike didn’t have them installed when replacing gauge bezel.

10mm.. there a bit of a pain to get to with an Allen set.. easier to get to with a socket set and short extension. If you're going to replace choose socket over Allen... Just my two sense

James, have you done a valve clearance yet? I did mine and found unmarked, after market shims. I measured them out and was getting fairly inconsistent measurements. Apparently after market shims are softer and wear faster. Only use OEM shims or check valves at less mileage. Any info? Good news, I got to see the valvetrain and it was spotless The bad, previous owner possibly did not do a clearance like he said and I was at or below on intake and exhaust valve clearances. Note to self, immediately check after buying new used bike.

Hey Kenneth sorry for the late response. To be honest I've never had to go into the valves on this new engine, or on the old engine.. guess i've been lucky in that way thus far. When it comes to buckets and shims, Ya, I've heard the same, always go the OEM route because you just never know the quality of the machining or material aftermarket companies use. I make it a rule of thumb to never put in aftermarket parts on my bike that has to do with engine mechanical operation or electrical. This after learning a few hard lesson trying to go the cheap eBay route. Heck, I'll even do used OEM ver New Aftermarket.. lol When it comes to purchasing a used bike well that's always a tough one. I have a buddy of mine that flips bikes and even though his knowledge is vast in motorcycle mechanics he too has gotten stuck with a bike or two that had problems he couldn't even see. You just never know

@@TheChemistDIY FYI. Symptoms for my 750 when valves were out of spec. Hard start when hot. Poor gas mileage. Looking back after completing valve clearance, poor performance. It's hard to know if it could run better until you check everything in the service manual. Let me say this after the post valve clearance adjustment Dyno results, you would say it is two different 05 GSXR 750's.

@@kennethford5386 I'd have to agree with you there Ken, pretty much everyone just cracks open the service manual when there experiencing an issue with there bike. VERY rarely do they open it and read through it to perform the periodic checks and maintenance there suppose to be performing before they get to that trouble issue point. At that point it to late there in a KZbin panic search trying to get it going quickly but only to be in the same boat a few short months because of the other services they missed, it's an endless cycle and soon after that they label their bike a piece of junk and sell it to the next new rider or unsuspecting buyer. Hello, it's called a service manual for a reason guys!.. your suppose to be reading through the entire book and performing the services on a regular. By the time you read through the book.. guys guess what.. its time to start from the beginning again.. lol Kind of reminds me of my girls mentality about cars..just add gas and go.. till the engine either blows or the wheels fall off.. lol

I’m thinking about doing a white gauge face; does the rpm needle just pull right off?

Yes, it pulls straight up but a bit of a pain. I think Suzuki used some sort of lite glue.. You can do the same if it won't stay on after your mod..
