Thanks for this very straightforward and easy-to-understand video. Even to the warning about lining up the notches for the speedo. One question. Do you not have to do anything with the brake caliper? If not, this is even easier than I thought it would be. Thanks.
@davidriegner2967
@davidriegner2967 3 жыл бұрын
No need to do anything with the caliper for removal. But it makes it a lot easier if you compress the pads to get the rotor back in when installing the wheel

Hey David, just used your vid to remove a friend's front wheel off an '06 S50 that I recently sold him. We had trouble finding that 19 mm allen key but a bit of phoning around finally turned one up. Imagine our surprise when we discovered on doing the deed that what was needed was a 12mm, not a 19 for the axle. Whoops! ;-) Other than that though, thanks for a very helpful vid.

The axle "L" A-wrench is inside of the tool kit, found behind the removable rear upper seat back (at least it is on my 1990) I expect others have this unless someone removed the kit. A metric wrench that fits on the A-wrench can indicate the specific mm size for the aplicable year motorcycle.

The cast rims were not 1983-85. The first yr of the Intruder was 1985 and the cast rims were available '85-'87.

One other thing that would be really helpful is if you have a video about changing the air filters on this bike. Apparently it can be a pain, but I'm sure you could make it look much easier. :) Thanks.

I assume you're referring to the lights on the crash bars. They are driving lights that I like a lot work very well I bought on eBay. I have not found after market direct bolt on turn signals for my boulevard S50. After market turn signals usually have a 10 mm stud sticking out. Suzuki's bolts on with a 6 mm bolt from the bottom. but I have made adapters for others.

I bought a 2001 vs800 about 2 months ago. Wanted a little bigger bike because of my height but couldn’t pass up the deal I got. Love my bike. I really need to put on a different seat and some footboards and thinking this will make my ride a little more comfortable. If anyone has any ideas of where to get these it would be appreciated. Good video but he didn't show you that brake has to be loosened and axle needs greased might be helpful ps looks like he had polished and took apart front tire 20 times it just fell out like butter if your bike has been sitting or no maintenance you'll need remove front brakes service and rebuild caliper for sure don't forget new diaphragm for Master cylinder most are brake fluid soaked no good

Bike has over 50000 miles. Caliper have never been rebuilt. Master cylinder never been touched. You do not have to remove caliper to remove wheel. You sound like you do not have much mechanical is mechanical aptitude.

@@davidriegner2967 Mines a 96 I found in a barn of my buddy's place here in wv with 10k miles and sitting for 5 years. Gave him a hundred bucks and two years frame off restoring it with my own touches. I've had it on the road three years and its about to turn 38k. I threw new rings in it at 28k but didn't need it. I just freshened up the head gaskets on it because how hard I do run it lol. The best mods I done to mine was a jet kit for some shorty York exhaust tips and a Barnett clutch. I lowered it 3 inches in the rear with S40 shocks and a 2" progressive kit in the front. I love bikes.. I got an 83 honda cb1100f that I just got running after it sat for 10 years. I have an 88 sporty that I just threw some cams and a hammer performance 1250 kit on it but it's still having carb issues. I like watching people work on their own shit. I built that Harley and honda in my spare bedroom or somewhere in this house. I keep all three in the house with me thanks to growing up seeing my uncle keeping his pan head in the house lol. What tires you get the best mileage out of? I burn dunlops off every oil change lol.
