I checked my firing on back cylinder working good.and running. Back cylinder is firing but no fuel. I can sqirt fuel into carburetor and it starts running until that fuel runs out. What could be my problem.

Im trying to pluck up the courage to go ahead.the byke is backfiring and some times flooding the plug so it needs doing 30 years old and brand new fuel lines only done 20 thousand miles.your videos are a godsend thankyou

Loved the the carb float comparison with a toilet cistern......simple and easy to understand : ) I'm hoping once you start putting the bike back together you'll cover synchronising the carbs (please !!)....as I'm sure that's something a lot of 1400 owners would like to have explained........me included !!! As always keep up the great work, its steadily becoming THE place to go to for all things VS1400 related : )

Awesomeness! Wish your vids were online 6 months ago! When I pulled mine apart lol. Need your "how to put them back on the motor" video now... I can't remember. PS Pulled my carbs off to re-jet with a 6 Sigma kit, also found the front carb slide piston gummed up, explained why it was running so bad!

I stripped my vs1400 as naked as it can be few months ago. I needed to paint the frame and everything else. Now im putting it back together and i already have nightmares where i try to sync those carbs. Last winter i did that about thousand times so i know how to sync those bastards, but man i hate to do that. Good luck with your project!

fuel, air, spark and timing are important for an engine to run! Wrong timing can give you a bad headache for days😅 Nice content!

I have the 1400 as well, where are the mixture screws located, manula says 2 3/8 for front and 2 turns for rear, but where are they? TY for your content

Hey. Benny from Sweden.. I have a 1996. I heard you were talking about carb sync. My lowsync is off.. When its idle only the forward cylinder is running. When i give a little gas both both run. Is there a sync video in the works or? Great videos btw mate. Thanx a bunch :)

Hello, your videos are an awsome help! I have two Intuder 1400 my self, one -98 and one -89. If i can ask a question... Why are the slide on the rear carb on the-98 juming up and down like crazy and fuel are pouring out (flooding) of the back of the carb?? (no it doesent run right) Please help and best regards from Sweden :)

Fuel pouring out from the carb is usually a sign that the float needle is either stuck open or the float height is too high and is allowing too much fuel into the bowl

Hi.love all your videos. just one question on the carbs. is there fuel/air screws on these carbs. if so , mine seem to be covered up. assuming they need to be drilled out. In saying this. How big of a job is this to drill out? kind regards, two wheels.

I have a 2008 S83 Boulevard aka Intruder that backfires on the right side of the bike only. I assume this means that the front cylinder's carb is the only one that needs rebuilt correct? Is there a way to clean the jets without removing the carb? This bike sat in a garage for about 17 months with gas in the tank after the previous owner passed away. I find that riding the bike with the choke on almost entirely eliminates the backfiring. What would you recommend my best course of action is for someone like myself without a garage to work in and only basic mechanical skills? Thanks

What do you do if you can't get the float Bowl off the screws are stripping out

Very VERY carefully drill the heads out/off. Then replace the screws with the correct thread pitch

Another way is using a impact driver tool, the one you hit with a hammer. It can a lot of times grab just enough to loosen the screw, then replace it. Another way is cutting a line across it and using a flat head screwdriver, but even here I would use the driver tool.

I have 95 intruder 1400. I'm having a problem with a high idle. Only after the bike is warm. If I'm coming to a stop with the clutch in. It idles high but I can let go of the clutch until it starts to grab a little and the idle will go back down to normal. But as soon as I hit the throttle a little the idle rises again. The throttle cable is not sticking. Only happens when bike is warmed up. I have on taken carbs off yet. I'm also thinking maybe there's a vacuum leak.

Can you tell me how much i need to take of my vs1400 to take out the carbs. Do I just remove seat and tank and then i can take them out for a cleaning?

Is the VS1400 one carb per cylinder? Or do they both serve both cylinders?

2 carbs, 1 for each cylinder

Hey my bike runs great at low throttle to mid range. But at wide open throttle it has a two or three second delay before it comes to life. What are your thoughts? It's a vs1400. Thanks.

It could be a number of things. First I would check is for AIR leaks around the carbs and cylinder manifolds. If there are no air leaks, it could be that your carbs are running too rich or too lean. You would need to adjust the fuel air mixture to see if this makes a difference. Let me know how you get on.

Sent it to Suzuki. They say my carbs need cleaning/potential rejetting. Suppose to get it back Tuesday. Thanks for the feedback.

Cleaning the carbs isn't the challenge. It's resynchronizing them without proper equipment that is the shortcoming.
