It's great how you commented truthfully on the size of the rear seats. It really does hold four average sized adults (5'7-5'9) comfortably. I almost passed on this car because of reviews about poor rear seat passenger space as well.

Yes im not sure why professional reviewers are being so harsh and say a few false things about this car. I was in the same boat almost didnt purchase it, seriously. I am so glad i went with my gut feeling on this one. Vehicle is great!

How have you found it going uphill on motorways or with payloads (passengers or gear in the back)? I've found it revs out at only 60-70km/hr in these cases.
@MinisterVids Жыл бұрын
I think with the manual transmission allows me to have more control so you can easily shift down a gear and rev it a bit more, i have not had any issues going on uphills or motorways at all. I can keep up the other cars sometimes even go past them 😅 ofcourse not a sports car but very standard normal for these situations

Get what you want, that works and evokes that emotion and excitement. Pride in ownership is a big thing. Love the colour and heritage grill which is a must accessory. These are pretty slow and have body roll, but around the city, compact size, great visibility and up high seating make for a sweet ride. Think these look super cool. Congrats and enjoy - a fellow kiwi and petrol head 👍

Always great to hear back from a fellow kiwi and petrol head. I also think it looks very nice, and it gives a retro vibe with modern equipment which is good. A lot of pride in owning this indeed. Thank you for the feedback and your comment!

Great review. I picked up my 2020 model (Jungle Green also) in July last year, got 13,500km (on and off road) on it already and love it. Agree with your comments re other reviewers assessments - they know not what they are talking about! The little Jimny IS NOT a sports car! It's a 4WD vehicle! It doesn't and never will perform like an Audi Quattro. The only valid criticism I have to agree with is limited load space but even then it makes you think twice about how much 'junk' you 'need' to carry on a road trip. You just travel 'light' is all.
@MinisterVids3 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree with your comment. Thank you

Good honest review. I received my Jimny last October so have had it now for 8 months. It is a total joy to drive. I live in Melbourne and it is my daily drive. At present I use it 95% on sealed roads and only 5% on dirt mostly because we are always in lockdown here (almost 6 months in total now). I have done about 8,000 km so far. It is a joy on rough dirt roads and can easily cruise down the highway (and overtake) at 100km/hr in overdrive (5th gear) It is a small light car so on a very windy day on the highway at 100 Km/hour it does get blown around a little but not that much. For the past 25 years I've only driven automatic cars but I purchased a manual Jimny , it was very easy to get used to driving a manual again !! and is super fun to drive. Go buy one you will love it !!

Oh nice and yes i totally agree with your comment about what a joy it is to drive. You should check out my video on how to extend the life of your clutch, its a good refresher for people getting back into manual from autos. Thank you for your comment! Appreciate it

@naveenrawat49033 жыл бұрын
Because you can buy 4 jimny's at a cost of 1 wrangler, I know jeep is more powerful but jimny performs equally on track with 5 times less fuel consumption and cheaper parts. We have the reason why it's not in USA but why the hell it's not in India considering the point that it's a joint venture production of an Indian company 'Maruti'.

Thank you so much specially to stress on that daily driver point! India just launched the 5 door version and while I was waiting for this since years, I too was demoralized with the on-road daily driver reviews like you said. But I wish they provided a bit larger wheels and a some tad more space for bottle holder or a sunglass holder... but like you shared, I hope I can get that aftermarket.. what's important is the core soul of that Car is a true compact SUV that will last ages and reliable! Thank you for sharing your views. Wish you happy driving. God bless Jimny community 🙏 🙌

Take care and thanks for showing your Jimny.

This one's perfect. But i don't think they are gonna bring it in india. I mean they did launch it in 2019 but they figured out that the soon launching mahindra thar 4wd would flop comparing to the jimny , i guess. It's same as the jimny but the finishing's not so much perfect in details. You can see it in folds of the rear seat for boot space. And man how grand it looks when customised🤘. I'd give it a 10 🙌👍

@@MinisterVids Liked the dash mat, have to see if available in England, not sure what is meant by a negative review though, the steering would strange to someone used to driving a saloon etc, lack of a 6th gear might be a problem if you do a lot of highway driving, transfer box noise might put some people off, my Jimny was bought to replace my aging and rusting (chassis) Defender Td5 while l wait for the new Defender 90 Commercial to come out, so far the Jimny has been everywhere offroad that my Td5 went, and on the highway at the legal limit (70mph) it has been okay, even slept in the back including our labrador and 2 pugs, cosy but okay, the Jimny is a good small multi purpose vehicle that is capable of being made a lot better with the accessories available, l'm impressed. What's the fuel consumption like? And is it noisey on the motorway? Cheers
@MinisterVids Жыл бұрын
Fuel consumption is not bad, its about 7-L/100km. Regards to being noisey on the motorway depends also if you have auto (4 gears) vs manual (5 gears), however i havent really noticed anything too bad to be honest. Also depends if your comparing the noise level with a luxury electric car vs if you driven 4wd before, its just normal. Its a good ride on motorways overall 👍

Do you change gears based on RPM? If so, what is your usual RPM on a normal road?
@MinisterVids2 жыл бұрын
I change gears by engine sound and road condition, but RPM is good if your new to manual. Now this is just a rough guide so i can answer your question but there is no "rule" on this, its more about feeling it. But Approx. 2000 RPM is ideal as a rough guide to stay on while driving (as long as the engine doesnt lug your fine). In the Jimny shifting gears up (it also depends on which gear your currently on, road conditions, when shifting) around approx. 2500 - 3500 RPM is a good guide for normal flat road to shift up. Other people might do it different but this is the approximate rough guide. I have a video of how to drive manual as a refresher or for newbies on the Jimny you can check it out 😆

Can I ask how much you paid for it? It seems each year they slightly increase the price to my sadness 😂 And I heard the manual was more fuel efficient how many L per 100km do you get?

Hi Isaac, it was about 29K to get the vehicle. I know price since then has increased due to supply and demand. Manual will probably be more fuel efficient due to having the extra 5th gear. Havnt really measured it carefully but around 7L per 100km (around there).

The platform for this vehicle really hasn't changed much over the years. But most people would buy one for its 4x4 capability. They have always been a bit top heavy and with a narrow wheel base which does contribute to body roll. The old ones were always known to flip fairly easily. But they also very good off road as they are short wheel base and light. I know people who remove the back seats which allows for way more cargo space. I actually really like them but i do a lot of off roading. Mostly beach work. I actually own a dmax but would look at one of these in the future. Will wait for prices to drop and grab one second hand as im not into loosing the shirt off my back buying new. Shame they dont do a diesel version as its better for low end 4x4ing.
@MinisterVids3 жыл бұрын
Yea diesel option would have definately been pretty cool for some folks. Hope the prices do come down even the 2nd hand ones are up there in price. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback. Appreciate it.

Nice review. Does that centre electric window button control both driver and passenger? I can't see a second button for the passenger window that's all
@MinisterVids3 жыл бұрын
Yes theres 1 for driver and also 1 for passenger. Both in the middle control panel check the video again and pause it you will see it :)

Except for the trunk space, this vehicle is ok.

Agree! Trunk space could have been slight better, however i have seen many people using roofracks as a good substitute. Thanks for the comment

I find it weird when the steering wheel is on the right side.
@MinisterVids3 жыл бұрын
This vehicle is made in japan (majority of japan cars have wheel on the right hand side). We get it direct from japan. There are some jimnys however with left hand steering wheel, this depends on the country manufactured for. Thank you for your comment.

Can you put a rear facing baby seat while still use the front seat? Thanks
@MinisterVids2 жыл бұрын
You can put a baby seat in the rear, there are also specific slots for baby car seat. And yes you can use the front seats at the same time. However, I have never used this personally so not sure how affective it is sorry

You realize those seat covers are illegal in NZ as they don't allow the air bags to work.
