I’d saved a video of yours a year or so back and needed it. Was a carb issue. You are about the only guy on KZbin that maintains a old 300. More of these please ha. Corner the market 👍

Ah ha.😄 great fix, that would go over very well in Wisconsin my home state, and plenty of beer cans available. Hello from Alaska. I have a 87/88 250 quad (muffler) to fix. Good job. Stay cool. Ride on.

Welded my 91 this fall, and used exaust cement to plug up any small hole. And finished with Hi temp paint. It ain't pretty but probably give er a couple more years

Hey Josh, I have learned a ton from your videos. Great work. Thanks. I too have a '97 King Quad 300, also gray which I bought new. Great machine. Please help me if you can. Barely runs, skips, hard to start, very low power -- unrideable, backfires, black smoke at start-up, runs only at high throttle, dry fouls plug quickly, dies after 30 seconds. I have eliminated the following: 1) Stuck choke 2) Low compression. (Consistently at 165psi) 3) Fuel delivery system 4) Ignition coil (Replaced with OEM) 5) Magneto / Stator, Pick-up Coil 6) Carburetor (Cleaned and replaced jets, caskets, etc. I tried pilot setting at 2-1/4, 2-1/2 turns out and 2-5/8 turns out.) 7) Voltage regulator / rectifyer 8) Valve adjustment I have not eliminated: 1) Unlevel carb float 2) Rust obstruction in muffler (Muffler shown only minor rust.) Is it time to buy a CDI? Jim

Hey Jim. I wonder if your timing chain has skipped? Could be worth checking as you seem to be handy and should be capable i would think.
@JIMNORTON-fm6fl Жыл бұрын
I considered that but discounted that possibility because the problems came on somewhat slowly over time. To be certain of chain timing would involve accessing the TDC mark and checking that the piston is actually at TDC. Is that correct? Keep the videos coming. These are great old machines old enough now to need some work. Thanks, Jim @@Schneids15

my friend has a kingquad 300 not sure what year it is but my 1989 quadrunner has quite a bit more low end torque than his bike. Not sure why. We did clean the carb and adjust the valves and his exhaust is good. We also checked that all hoses and stuff was good to the airbox and snorkel. Only difference is that i have a different carb on my bike. previous owner put a mikuni carb on my bike from a snowmobile i think.

I have a 99 King Quad in Louisiana and I love it! Thanks for the info on the carb, oil screen and muffler. I'll probably use a Dixie Beer can on the muffler. chuck

I have the same year and mine doesn't do that
@Schneids154 жыл бұрын
That is an extra lean condition. I had my blue one do that. Check your oil pump strainer. I have a video on how to do it. Mine would get red and i tried everything with carb jetting and still lean. I cleaned the oil strainer and it fixed it right away. Check out my video on it.

Having been trying to find this topic of replacing an oil temp sensor with no luck . Could you do a video on this or someone else reading this. I have 2002 King quad and my sensor is lighting up even when engine is cool in the garage so it must be a sensor issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah I just discovered a linear hole in my exhaust in the tailpipe section. Is that tailpipe piece just a pipe or does it have some internal stuff ,ie. smaller pipe in the center.

Awesome videos, thanks for making them! I just bought a 2000 here in Cincinnati, Ohio over the summer that had 1,500 miles and literally had zero rust. What is the bolt for directly underneath the muffler? I purchased a pdf service manual for it online and it doesn’t say.
@Schneids152 жыл бұрын
Hey! That is great! The bolt is a cleanout for back in the day if mud etc got in it. I would not attempt to remove it because it will likely break off.

Hey thanks for the video I have the 97 quad runner 250 2 wheel drive does it have a cooling system I think I have a overheating problem but I don't know where the radiator is can you help?
@Schneids154 жыл бұрын
Hey no cooling system. There is a oil cooler at the front that you could check to see if it is clogged with mud

@@Schneids15 .. thanks for responding. Looks like I just need to do a oil change. Saw your video on it good info. My biggest problem is that the front brakes on my 97 quad 250 have been deleted and I can't find all the hardware to replace them. I got the cylinders coming thanks for the part number. Any idea where I can get all the other spring and levers that controls the front brakes?
