leaving fuel on can dump gas into your crank case? i left mine on for a month sitting there. brushed snow off and it stared real hard then started idling high thinking it was just the cold making it act up. i ride off into the woods for it to die on me. then i noticed a nasty smell from exhaust. so i think no oil? i unscrew the rear oil cap and watch gas and oil (mainly gas) rush out like it was in a hurry or something. is my bike screwed? where do i start to fix this? there is no vent line port on this fuel petcock just 1 gas line from the petcock to carburetor. think if i just change the oil and make sure the gas is shut off after each use will fix this? or do i need to be looking elsewhere for problems.
@RogueMachines174 күн бұрын
most likely you can drain everything out, put in new oil and at least see if any damage was done. You probably did not do any damage but you won't really know until you tear it apart or try running it. If the fuel is left on it can fill the bowl and leak into the combustion chamber and then into the oil. Root cause issue could be a bad or leaking float valve. Correct fix is to replace the float valve, but even new ones can leak. turning off the fuel can prevent this issue entirely
@MerchantMetals3 күн бұрын
@RogueMachines17 thank you friend this was helpful. I've never seen so much fuel come out of a crankcase.

Any one tell me where the line that come direct off the petcock that gives fuel where to hook it up? I got the vacuum line on top twords engine and the caged line on the bottom by the float and itll run but die after a few moments of running

I replied to a comment up above explaining the carb and vacuum a bit. I wouldn't change it they need to creat vacuum to work. To open the safty pit cock. The vacuum from carb opens it and allows the gas to go to fuel pump which also works on a vacuum. The one single line on top front of carb is vaccum for pit cock. Check for cracks or lose connections. The other to lines and back upper part of carb is vaccum as well think for fuel pump will reply again when finshed quad I am working.

hi, do you have any idea why my suzuki goes so bad, it revs up and sometimes you can't even drive because its like its getting to mock fuel or to less? it dies and goes really bad, have cleaned the carb, bhougt a new choke cable, whats the problem? it is getting maybe air somewhere?
@RogueMachines177 жыл бұрын
It could be your valves. Suzuki quadrunner exhaust valves are know to leak. I would check your compression
@colingeorge24316 жыл бұрын
They work of vacuum. Your carb works up the vacuum in the top part with the big rubber diaphragm. It then opens the safty pit cock that works with having to have vacuum. Then letting gas get pumped to fuel pump then on to carb. If your bike has not been used in years I would go ebay and order new pit cock and fuel pump and replace it . Also any lines that are dryed up in the vacuum lines..you can try that first before replacing the pit and pump. This works as I have fixed these in the past and have one in my garage know with same issues..found broken pit cock line that could cause the issues and the diaphragm in carb looks worn. Good starting point for lot of Suzuki that have all these vacuums lines on them

@@colingeorge2431 That's is almost the same system as a Yamaha Vino scooter I just fixed, no fuel was getting through the pit cock and fuel pump. it had a vacuum tube from the carburetor, so I bought a new fuel pump and it started right up . Don’t buy a cheap $75 knock-off you have to buy a used or real Mikuni carb, but it will run $300+. Or buy the China-junk and keep rebuilding it every month.
@rickybobbyinc2934 жыл бұрын
Bike Life_93 : That can be true if you are lucky and get a good one. The parts just aren’t made that great, that’s why they are so cheap. With name brand, its one and done. But hey, my advice ain’t for everyone. Have at it and be safe!

The cheap Chinese carb also burn spark plug preferably rebuild yours or buy a OEM one so you won't burn you spark plug in one week it maybe more expensive to get the OEM but you get your money back when you think of how many spark plug you've burned in a month

Anyone else out there want to take the sob so-called engineers that needlessly designed these serviceable parts into such tight spaces out behind a woodshed for a much needed a**-whooping. I found the choke plunger near impossible to put back on and with a wrench ???? forget it. Choke plunger is a 12mm wrench but needle nosed pliers worked far better.
