@@HatBoyHarvey I took the master cylinder off and didn't know wtf I was doing, so I put it back and still no rear brakes. But I did take it our for an hr ride with my buddy with no rear brakes. I'm live in the country so it was alright. Front isn't as stiff and wobbles from time to time. I check the front and there's no movement, so going to check tire pressure tomorrow. After watching youtube videos, I realized my master cylinder is seized, so taking it apart again tomorrow but adding some heat to it this time. First time riding a sports bike and I think it went alright. 🤔 cheers!

@@dronus you may get the cylinder free and if you're experienced get it working again, but it will likely seize again in the near future due again to the corrosion that builds up. In my experience these are worth a new caliper. :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey the bike has low miles and was sitting for about 4/5 years. Hopefully I won't have to buy a new master cylinder. Thanks for the advice. 🙏

Yeah, this bike made it simple for changing the oil but I just know there are lazy folks who couldn't manage to get it done.... lol, you still riding this bike? She's very good looking, a sharp looker & I'm not looking for a street only cycle but this one is one of the few street bikes that I fancy. Someone was telling me this bike doesn't cost as high to insure as many of the 600's on the road? I don't know how/why I came to believe that but I heard it somewhere.... thanks for the video // peace

@@diggy-d8w I'm thinking of selling it as I don't use it much at all now. It's done just 7k sitting in my garage under a cover for me to just start it up now and again. I have it MOT'D and insured, just need to tax it to ride it. Maybe on a nice sunny day I will ;-)

Well, I'm happier to hear she's still able to be ridden & hopefully you get the time or pass her on to someone else? I'm on the wrong side of the pond & looking more at a Dual Sport but when I saw the bike I had to watch the video - she's nice. You be safe out there....

Yeah, I'll make whatever I get work out but if I do decide for a street only, Your Bike has sold me on the SV650 & since looking at yours.... I've found that a lot of Track Riders select this bike as well. That tells volumes to me. Keep the rubber side down

They are a very good buy, cheap reliable, plenty of power to have fun, easy to restrict if you have to, great handling, lightweight, frugal, v twin power gives smooth consistent power up to about 130mph . I've had an earlier one of these and loved it, but I'm not riding this one much at the moment.

@HatBoyHarvey
@HatBoyHarvey 2 ай бұрын
@@slapabiker you have to do it by feel, remembering it is aluminium so gently does it! Really it's nothing to worry about - tighten it enough to stop it leaking and a tad more and your good to go. Best done with a new washer, but if not no worries again and enjoy the ride. Just remember to check the level now and again and the bolt :-)

Why not fill it up to F? Is it better to leave it between F and L? New rider here, genuinely curious.
@HatBoyHarvey
@HatBoyHarvey 3 ай бұрын
The window is really useful on these to keep an eye on the level, not easy to hold the bike exactly vertical though, so there can be a margin of error and also settlement after filling the bike. Over-filling an engine can cause 'dipping' where engine oil comes into contact with the crankshaft interfering with it, increasing friction, leading to engine damage over time. Under-filling doesn't allow enough oil to lubricate all parts adequately, so both are bad for the engine. So to be sure you are filling the engine adequately a high and low mark are given. Anywhere between these is ok with the optimum in the middle, but if you aim to keep the level in the middle it also allows for a margin of error.

impact driver, but I would be careful or small taps on the socket head. Don't break anything as itsan alloy casing. Tuff thing on these is the likely galvanic corrosion between differing metals. have a look at project farms video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roaooJVopKZ-jNU on penatrating oils, he recomends: amzn.to/3DSbZJV
