Well, I tried new Swift recently. Boosterjet SVHS was only availible demo car, so I also tested the K12C engine in Baleno. And if driving fun means anything to you, the 1,2 is several class above the 1.0 boosterjet. Yes, ultimately the 3cyl turbo is little bit quicker, boost build up is not so bad, but my god, the reaction to the throttle is awful. And I mean Renault 0,9 Tce awful. Try to blip it on the neutral - the revs are going sluggishly both up and down. You must adjust your shift timing to its delays. Heel and toe downshift blips? Forget it. It also sounds like a Wartburg. Vibrations are noticeable only here and there, but you can't escape to the fact tha the K12C is much more sophisticated engine. It is also sharp on the throttle and with these 100+ kg lighter cars it actually goes pretty well, unlike the older cars.

which is better 1.0 boosterjet or 1.2 dualjet???

I would go for 1.2 Dualjet. Much better engine for me. Overally the 1.0 boosterjet will be quicker, but it is not pleasant to use. You need to tesdrive them both, you may have different preferences.

Ariskot007 I have the 1.2 version eight months now. I like it, but after reading all the excellent reviews about the 1.0 boosterjet I keep thinking that I should have bought that instead. When I bought mine I did not realize that the 1.0 version was turbo with more horse power. I have not test driven the 1.0. What do you think?

don't listen to that, the 1.0 is a crappy downsizing direct injection engine, stay away from that crap and get the much better 1.2

What a joke, only someone totally clueless who knows nothing at all about engineering and emissions - or someone paid to promote the more expensive version - would ever recommend a crappy downsizing DI turbo 3-cylinder Bullshit engine over a smoother, more durable, cleaner 1.2 engine.

This is the first positive comment I see about dual jet over boosterjet. I bought the 1.2 dualjet model a month ago but all the reviews I came across on the internet are by far in favour of the 1.0 boosterjet to the point that they consider a mistake buying the 1.2. I have been a little bit dissapointed whether I made the right decision

You made the right decision, those so called "journalists" are comletely ignorant, all they care and write about is how much power the car has at low revs. They know nothing about engines and just complain about everything that is not boosted, the whole press has become a sad farce.

Basically they are just talking about how much power they feel without shifting the manual ransmission properly. Facts they completely ignore: The 1.2 is clean (multipoint injection) and gets Eu 6c, the 1.0 has a different combustion process (direct injection) that emits extremely cancerous nano particles that slowly kill humans and does NOT get EU 6c, if that car was a diesel it would have been banned over 6 years ago, but until now petrol engines were allowed to be much dirtier, luckily that finally is changing now and cars with DI will soon be treated like old diesels with no filters because in that aspect they are even worse. The 1.2 engine is smoother and strains other parts of the car like the motor mounts less. The 1.2 engine will last much longer, the 1.0 will get trouble with the direct injection, carbon build up, motor management, ECU, turbocharger, etc. much more expensive, complicated parts that will fail that the 1.2 simply doesn't have. And if you look at comparison tests the numbers speak for themselves, there was one in the german magazine Auto Motor Sport (they alwas hate on and talk shit about asian cars) but the numbers don't lie, the Swift 1.2 had better acceleration and better fuel economy than the turbocharged DI competition. in a light car like the Swift a naturally aspirated engine fits perfectly. And direct injection is completely unnecessary (just a cheap way to make better numbers on paper) and should be banned, shame on the ignorant "journalists" who promote that cancer without even knowing about it, they have blood on their hands.
