Its a fair review and one I'd expect this car really takes a while to understand it. So many are use to turbos and auto boxes, if you aren't driving this car like you stole it you aren't driving it properly. I own two of these so I am Biased. One in White the other in Boost Blue. Just a few points if I may. 1. 5 door was available from 2013 ( i have one in blue) 2. Gear change indicator was a revised option from 2015 and would mean you also have the Bluetooth Tyre pressure monitoring system ( bit of a pain £40 each to change if they go wrong) 3. The Sat Nav is superb its Garmin and is easily updated and very very easy to use as well as being (updatable) the good news is the head unit is easily changed if you don't like it. 4. You failed to mention the 60/40 rear seats split it turns the rear into over 500 litres of boot space if needed and makes the car very practical if you don't have to carry rear passengers. 5. 5/10 for Performance is exactly what i would expect from most people who've never driven this car. Its peak power is 6900rpm its max torque is 4400 rpm you were changing gear at 3000rpm. It has a high lift cam you need to really drive it hard and it loves to be driven hard. To really appreciate this car you need to know how to drive it. It really is a momentum car and you really need to wait before you change gear it is happiest at 7k rpm. It will return a ton of pleasure and smiles per miles and happily moves from town car into race car and back depending what mood you are in and how heavy you right foot is. It is happiest at those high RPM hence the low viscosity oil as it is a 0W 20 oil Fully Synthetic in these cars. 6. Fun fact one has done 50,000km+ of the Nürburgring and only needed clutch and brake pads the engines are impressively reliable with a Chain cam belt. Brakes are also great. 7. It's well known and documented that the 0-60 of this car is not 8.7 seconds it is closer to 7.5 - 7.7 you can get to 60 in second gear if you want to. 8. It won't beat a lot of high power cars in a straight line (but really that's not the point of this car or most, that's just Mat Watson and co who are obsessed with drag races and 0-60 times) It will however keep up with a lot of cars on twisty B roads and most other roads as it is more than capable of exceeding the limits and risks most are willing to take on public roads. ( and unlike a Ford Fiesta it won't get stolen and unlike a Golf R you might just keep your license in this. 9. You said the seats were cheap but on the contrary Suzuki developed them with Recaro they are in fact very well bolstered, and fully adjustable as is the steering wheel. 10. Fun, Fun, Fun and unlike a Citroen it won't break down, and unlike an eco boom fiesta St it won't catch fire and unlike a fiat 500 you don't have to change the clutch within the first 20k miles. 11.) One of the best mods you can do is a Sprint Booster makes the throttle response so much better but won't increase BHP. 12.) The 17's have an awkward tyre size of 195/45/17 most people change to a 205/40 tyre. Other than that.... great review... If you would like to see what a Standard Engine car is capable of them i can recommend the following video... Just look at how well it handles.. it's incredibly impressive for a budget hot hatch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJPIdGirish6hdE&lc=UgwHDs7V2AkqNOhF6c54AaABAg.9Kvg2o0zazz9LEGWSXn-xb

I went from a 2017 zc32s to the new 2021 zc33s and im seriously considering going back to the 32s. I miss the simplicity of it so much and that N/A sporty feel that you only get with the late 90s and early 2000s japanese cars. Yes the 33s has a lot more tech and its faster but i dont feel as connected to it as i did with the 32s and it dsnt look as good as the 32s imo.

A balanced and fair review of the SSS, I have one of the same age having got rid of my 2007 2 litre mx5 rust bucket. The suzuki is very nearly as much fun to drive, more economic. My average is 53mpg mostly twisty A road driving, and more practical. I don't really give two hoots about tech on the dashboard. I like cars that are fun to drive and don't break the bank or my heart. SSS is just fantastic. Great handling and engine getting faster after a few trips to 7000 rpm

Real life 0-60 times are in the 7s. Some as low as 7.5 seconds. That's seriously good Suzuki tested this car with a full load and a full tank of petrol, to get a 8.7. Still not too shabby and should have at least an 8 imo for performance

I think that is fair enough, a lot of these cars around this age seem to have bit more power than claimed.

5 out of 10 for performance is well harsh! For a car that’s so cheap to run, not turbo and so engaging, isn’t 5/10 mis-leading? I get that it’s not as quick as a turbo’d car but the reviews seem to agree that it’s a really good overall package with brakes, suspension, steering, gear change and performance well matched. That deserves credit in my book. Future classic? I agree and I’m gonna buy one
@AutoSocialUK3 жыл бұрын
It's in line with the other cars that I have had in this segment so far - remember it's in a league against cars like the Mini Cooper S and Fiesta ST. It's an incredible little car, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, just out-right power isn't a highlight in the car :)
@highmm26963 жыл бұрын
It's in the same league as a Mini Cooper S or Fiesta ST though really, consider price and it's far cheaper!
@oceandrive7283 Жыл бұрын
@AutoSocialUK it's not in the same class or price bracket at all, as the CooperS , Fiesta St. They're hot hatches- the Swift is a warm hatch. It's direct rivals would be Mini Cooper or the lower powered 1.0 st. The Renault Twingo sport was even close in comparison

Fair review. The SSS is the last of its kind. I have a black 2017 mk3 and I can't see me ever parting with it. I bought inlays for all the door/dash slots and laid red diamond stitched black ecoleather carpet with matching seat covers. Looks great inside now. Stage 1 performance remap last week bought the bhp up to 149. It's now perfect!

The cops have clamped down on street racing here over the last few years so I haven't tested it yet. Bad accident a few years back, after a cruise. I reckon it's shaved at least a second off the 0-62 as the power now kicks in at 2500 rpm instead of 4000. A year later and no mechanical problems or regrets. Money well spent! Correction to previous post. It's a mk2, not a mk3.

@polonium13 Жыл бұрын
@@elitecltrooper501st They're called Remap Kings. They did it at my house. I'm in Hertfordshire so if they don't cover your area, I'm sure there's a local outfit who do the same thing. There's a specific re-map for the SSS. Cost was £388 in 2021 but there was a £100 discount at the time. Nearly 2 years later, still great & no issues. It makes the engine run like a 2-Stroke. It's a sheer joy to drive on the twisty stuff. You won't be disappointed!

I agree, the new Swift Sport is cartoonish in appearance, your word “ fluffy “ sums it up perfectly. Maybe change out the old 1.6 engine for the new 1.3 turbo and do a R version turbo the 1.6 giving it say a healthy 170 break. Update the interior for the standard 1.3 Sport put leather in the type R. But definitely keep the old shape

The scoring is too low for this car. I come from a vw sicrocco now a 2022 i30N sedan. 2019BMW M2 oither classics. Right now I m looking for a low miles SSS natural aspiration. On testing one it"s so good. There a lots of times you hear a sports car coming but seem that speed and acceleration and the sound do not match. I mean its loud but it does not goooo! I tend to like cars that gives a gentle quiet note, you floor it with a slightly heavy sound and the car goes. This SSS did just that. Top marks for this era SSS
