5 weeks on the hard? Sounds like heaven. My complete and total refit has taken 15 months so far with probably 3 more to go. I’m sooo jealous.

I’ve always found haul out guys to be very obliging and helpful. I think they understand the pressure skippers go through at such times.. Enjoy the extra few knots you’ll get for a while, it will be quite noticeable.. ⚓️

How did you know or why did replace stern tube? I own A30 #248 , she a 1967. Anyway, thank you in advance and job well done!!!!
@SailorJames Жыл бұрын
Because my stern tube was just a cutlass bearing someone had welded a bronze plate to, making it impossible to change the cutlass bearing without having a new custom stern tube made.

@SailorJames thank you...I'm pulling my boat in a few weeks...looks like there is some seepage down by the stuffing box, but shaft seems dry...your videos have been helpful

You guys worked hard but with all that time out of the water it seems like you would have had the time to paint the bildge before you put the new shaft and seal in. Great video.
@SailorJames4 жыл бұрын
The bilge was painted two years ago, just needs a wipe down
@Viralvid20245 ай бұрын
Is that dripless still in action, or have you had to replace it by now (four years later)?
@SailorJames5 ай бұрын
Zero problems ever
@Viralvid20245 ай бұрын
@@SailorJames that's encouraging. I have zero experience with this dripless seal and surprisingly there's nobody else in my Marina using one so you are the only one I know of that has used it for this long and have had good luck with it! Thanks again for taking the time to respond and spread the knowledge with a less experienced guy on the path where you once stood yourself. I appreciate you brother, stay safe out there!

They are amazing, the boatyard requires them and we were able to borrow two of them from friends for the haul out
@alvin1984fiji3 жыл бұрын
Hey..just noticed...your thru holes were not bonded to ground ..any reason not to do it
@SailorJames3 жыл бұрын
Bonding thruhulls has been proven to be very dangerous, it basically links all of your fittings meaning that if there is a stray electrical current in your marina it can cause corrosion on every fitting. When they are not bonded the are naturally isolated.
@SailorJames3 жыл бұрын
Some sailing channel on KZbin zingo or something? Just live streamed his boat sinking because he installed all plastic thruhulls to save money and one of them broke off, might look into what type he had before you go with plastic, I would never have anything but bronze ever myself
