On the SV06 plus (unsure on the SV06), you can access the set screw by removing the tensioner screw and pulling back the tensioner lever. Then you can move the extruder wheel until it lines up. There's plenty of room to remove the set screw and add the Locktite that way. No need to take apart the whole extruder assembly.

As an owner of SV06 I confirm this

Sharing in 2024 so others hopefully see. I got the SV06 plus but it appears to have the upgrades seen on the SV07 such as having the two set screws so this maintenance may not be needed.great info still and great video

Excellent explanation! As a data point: the extruder I ordered on August 9th 2023 got here September 18 and had two set screws, no discernible thread locker from the factory.

Actually happened to me once. One day the grub screw became so loose, that it started to scrape interior wall of the extruder, producing fine metal shavings, frightening noises and absolute horror in my soul, eventually completely blocking the extruder. I took 5-10 minutes to figure out the cause and put everything back in working order. Luckily no irreparable damage was done)

Great video! Sadly, it did not fix my dispensing issue but still learned a lot! Ended up just ordering a new one.

thanks for the walkthrough. just followed the video and found that on mine, the bolts that connect the heatsink to the extruder stepper motor didn't have any washers at all!. and I don't have any that fit. so that sucks

I had same issue. Was surprised the gear has two grub screws.
@David-wd5et Жыл бұрын
@SavageLau My SV06 plus arrived with 2 grub screws and it appears there was some white thread locker on both already. It appears Solvo has gone back to the original design to avoid the issues. I would also add that the bearing, the one before the spur that the grub screw goes into, seems pressed on and I could not remove it. If you have 2 grub screws you may want to forgo this procedure as it appears there is locker on there already and it is not easy to remove the thread locker to reapply which is what I had to do.

Yeah, it is also good to see brands improving their product and listen to the community, that's why I like their brand.

What is your recommendation for extruder tension? I recently took my filament tensioner off my printer to correct issues with filament not loading, but since I did that I'm not sure how to tell if I have proper filament extruder tension.
@SvgLau Жыл бұрын
I don't have any specific range to set the tension, it is more like by feel. Some people have issue with TPU, so they set the tension at 3 or 4 turns from loose. I would suggest just try it like 5 turns and run a test print, if it works out you are go to go. The tension tolerance for this part is wide, so you don't need to worry about it too much, unless you having printing issue. I also bend the filament as stright as possible, and cut the tip like 45degree of angle. It helps a lot when loading it.

Hi. Have you used the "Sovol Klipper Screen for SV06/SV06 Plus" yet? I would like to know what you think of it. Thanks
@SvgLau Жыл бұрын
I actually just saw it for sell today, $99 dollar, it is a bit pricey in my opinion. Raspberry pi price start droping now and the klipper screen is very much limits to the sovol printers at this point. I personally use web interface more than touch screen. I would say, it really depends if sovol make any intergration improvement on the Klipper screen to make easy use on sv06/plus, other wise, it is a bit pricy.

My SV06 has been giving me a differnt issue with the extruder. I can easily run the filament wheel after I disable the steppers, but it gets locked up during the print. Instead of smoothly spinning around, the filament wheel vibrates back and forth like its jammed. Opening up the extruder gear set showed now signs of wear and tear which makes sense as it has never printed anything yet. Any tips?
@SvgLau Жыл бұрын
try to put lock tight on the pinch screw and test print again? also, there could be filament jaming by the tensioner gears, which you will need to confirm the filament is insert into the hot end correctly before runing test print.

happened that out of the factory those are VERY loose, to the point of calling them defective, even on the plus series which had 2 screws they were both loose and full of grease all over, out of the box by the way!
