I bought the 60mm, it's been great as a finder scope and a guide scope. I've been using it to guide with the SV305 planetary camera and it's done the job really well at a very affordable price.

Great video, Aaron - and so love that image at the end! Your star colours are always amazing, I don’t know anyone who does that better than you!

Have had the 50mm with 120mm mini using multi star guiding for about a month now and it’s been working flawlessly!

Think I can confirm that multi-star guiding really helps for longer focal lengths. A few weeks back, I tried my 1500mm Maksutov on the EQ6-R Pro. Since the scope is incredibly slow (f/12), I went for 4-minute exposures. Guided perfectly with a small, 32mm (130mm FL) guidescope and the 120MM Mini.

Yes it's a game changer for sure.

I've got the Astromania branded version of this same guide scope, and have been happy with the results.

It is a two lens cemented acromat. Tip: use a "minus violet filter" like the Baader Fringe Killer to get sharper stars and better guiding.
@AVAstronomy3 жыл бұрын
good tip. Those definitely help with fringe and would be a great starter setup for someone getting started in this hobby.

I recently bought a SVBONY SV198 Guide Scope, Mini 50mm Finder Scope and had incredible difficulty getting to focus; The poster of this video doesn't seem to have this problem; so maybe a different design.

Wait, I have a 70mm Astromania. They look almost exactly the same. I wonder if they just slap a different brand on them.

Very likely.

Thanks for posting this. Nice review. Could you please tell me the gross weight of the 50m SVBONY guide scope with all screws and mounting rings and brackets on it.

Can you use IT with Barlow Lens?
@XjohnnycolettaX3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you could use this for an actual astrophotography lens?
@AVAstronomy3 жыл бұрын
You could but the image would suffer from chromatic aberration among other optical imperfections. This can be removed In post processing but still won’t yield the same results as a scope with good optics.

Can you use this for polar Alignment with NINA?

Absolutely

Hi Aaron! I’ve been after M97 but not good! I use the l-enhance probably bad idea? Thanks, great work as always! @eyethesky
@AVAstronomy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edwin, the L enhance is better for narrowband and I believe M97 is more of a broadband target but they do usually emit OIII which is narrowband. So, not sure how well the L ehance is for that but it's worth a shot.

So, where is the result?
@AVAstronomy2 жыл бұрын
Umm.. it’s a solid budget guide scope. 👍
@oscpe2623 жыл бұрын
Not much of a review really. Starshapes for instance, are they as shit as with any other budget guide scope?
@AVAstronomy3 жыл бұрын
Fortunately Star shape in guiding is irrelevant. As long you are in focus you’re good.
