Easy Astrophotography

I made this video to show how easy it is to take astrophotos with a dslr and tripod. The key for best results is dark skies but you can still do this in light polluted areas with the assistance of light pollution filters. Sometimes as you alluded too, this is the best and most fun kind. I enjoy watching you go back to basics. I found it not so fun outside with all the wires and complicated setup. I spent half of many nights troubleshooting some stupid problem with no images to show for it.

Hope you get your Star Adventurer back up a working, Aaron. I’d also recommend Sequator for landscape astro stuff (and it’s free!); it does a remarkable job of lining up both foregrounds and the sky, is simple to use, and you can even add flats and darks if you want. Hope you had a great break.

@@AVAstronomy if I'm shooting with a lens, I take darks and flats (tablet on whitescreen in front of the lens) and I find sequator to be the best in light pollution control as well as about 5-10 times faster than DSS...

I've never seen this method of subtracting light pollution. Will have to give this a try. Do you have any other videos that shows that process in more detail?

Yes, I do. Can’t remember off hand, but I know have at least another video or two using this technique. Works pretty well for me.

That’s right! I sure did. Was hoping to get another shot at it or the blue horse nebula but it just wasn’t in the cards. Still had fun imaging with the simple setup. Clear skies to you too bud!
