I went for a short little bicycle outing with my new (to me) Svea123R into the wildwoods of central Wisconsin. I do a short introduction to my bicycle (Surly Long Haul Trucker), discuss a few items in my kit, go over the lighting of the Svea123R, and cook some coffee and breakfast from the hammock.
This is my first attempt at actually putting out some "real" youtube content, and I really hope its just the first of many. I ask that you please bear with me as I get a feel for talking to an inanimate object (the camera) and work out the kinks of producing some quality outdoor entertainments. If nothing else... I hope I can inspire you to get out into nature and find a little solitudinal bliss of your own.
For more information on the bicycle handlebar coffee cart super mug check out www.randijofab.com/products/c...
(I am in no way affiliated with RandiJo, other than I like their products, and I promised in the video that I would leave the link for the Mug)
Feel free to leave me any comments/feedback on any questions you might have about any of the gear I discussed, or perhaps any of the gear I had along but didn't quite cover enough of, as well as any criticism on my feeble attempt at informing you about the freight train of a burner, the SVEA123 white gas stove.

You should remove the key after adjusting the flame. The key gets HOT when left on the stove.

A nice little debut vid. I must have missed the bicycle intro. If you do a lot of bike trekking with your gear, a video on that might be good, you know, how you pack your gear, what gear you have, the tires your using to get around, the terrain your riding thru, etc. You're right, that svea is a jet engine. that is the reason I switched to a whisper lite. Did you know that the cap to that MSR bottle has a built in pour spout? On the threads of the cap there are two holes, one hole for pouring one hole for an air vent, just open the cap about a turn or turn and a halve and pour, there should be an arrow on the top of the cap indicating flow. It works well. In all, Nicely done. keep it up.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the tip on the MSR bottle. I had no idea. I just recently picked up a Whisperlite as well. I’ll probably do some sort of comparison video of the two at some point. That might be a good one to save for the winter time. That way they get a good cold weather test together. I also like your idea on the bikepacking gear discussion. Definitely something I’ll work on putting together in the future. Thanks!

Thanks so much. I’m impressed with your commitment. I know it was a little drawn out, so I really appreciate it. I was smoking this years limited edition Sun Bear Black Locust. I guess that could have been useful info to have included in the video. I’ll keep that in mind. Again, thanks so much for checking it out. We’ll see ya next time.

Cool vid, I like the bike bag, got the stove, and I'm looking at the cook kit. What size cook kit did you get and what size do you recommend 8/10? Bout your size, Mostly cooking for just me maybe a buddy.

Thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it. In this video I was using the 8 inch firebox ultra cook kit. I’ve got the 10 inch as well, but I almost exclusively use the 8 inch. It does everything I need. Even cooking for a few of us, it gets the job done, just might take a few more rounds if I’m making a bunch of over easy eggs or pancakes. I will probably start using the 10” this summer on longer canoe trips in the BWCA with groups of people, but on most of the shorter canoe trips I find myself doing I just pack the 12” cast iron skillet. For the most part, I find the packable size/weight and usable cook space of the 8 inch perfect for most trips.

I would find the information and demo more informative if you were experienced using the equipment and could give some firsthand information on how the stove functions under actual use in the field. Which would have been help a newbe to the Seva one twenty-three. Helpful info: Is the stove still in production. If so, how long has it been in production. Very poor demo. If the stove had been primed properly as the fuel in the spirit cup was almost empty the Key should have been turned up and you would have a roar burner for the stove would be running smoothly with no surging. The Wind screen should have been in place before lighting the spirit cup the key in place and ready to turn on. After the stove was at full flame the key is removed to keep it from getting too hot to touch.

Thank you very much for the excellent feedback. That’s all great information and useful advice. This was my first attempt at doing a demonstration video of any kind, so it is definitely a little rough. It is also (as the title implies) the very first time I ever tried using/lighting this particular stove. I had just received it and I thought it might be fun to film my first look at it and first attempt at using it. I have since used it on several occasions in the field on winter camping trips. I’ve learned to just leave the camera at home and enjoy the peace in the woods. Thanks so much for watching and giving me your honest feedback.
