Sviatoslav Richter plays Grieg Lyric Pieces - Op.68 No.4 'Evening in the mountains'

Since I first heard this many years ago, it remains for me by far the most satisfying interpretation and performance I've ever heard. It fits the meaning of the piece so well I believe this must be how Grieg meant it. Anyhow I love it.

How spoiled I have become! Expecting the sound of Grieg, Richter, and the piano with nothing else . . . nothing else audible or suggested or imaginable. How terribly spoiled I have become. Grieg's Op. 68 No. 4 played by Richter goes straight to my heart. The brain seems irrelevant but even in its irrelevance, so very ecstatic to be in the presence of Grieg, Richter, and the piano. Lovely. Thanks for posting it.

I adore playig this piece...especially after a hard day. The Richter version is, to me, the quintessential way to play Grieg. (Not my way!!!!!!)
