Despite this is not a good recording, is possible to hear Richter great genius and musicality playing these merveilles composed by Ravel’ s great genius.

These pieces are extremely difficult . First, they claim for a high level virtuoso and second there is a quite subtle play of intensities, attacks, tones, which makes the things even more difficult. Sviatoslav Richter follows all what Ravel noted - it is easy to check it with a score - and renders perfectly the specific poetry of these five pieces. Unfortunately, the recording technology is horrible.

Looks like my favorite recording of Richter - Recorded in mono from Czech Radio Broadcasts on September 2, 1965 (from Sviatoslav Richter in Prague, Disc 9, no location provided). :)
