Timely, thank you! I just received a pair of SB-3000 subs, just did a plug and play, they sound awesome, yet to crack the manual... Now I know I really need to see what I have here. I just installed last night, thanks for the video. And I think I am through with ported subs, these things are the BOMB! Talk about depth, just incredible, paired with the SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers, Denon X4400H, to Schiit Audio Loki, to Schiit Audio Freya 2 tube amp out to the Emotiva XPA-2 amp... The sound is unreal... Depth, depth depth. No delay, just sonically amazing. I feel like I am in the recording studio or sitting front row at the club... I am finished with ported subs. ;-)

What ported subs have you compared these to as I've heard that newer ported designs are way better now than just a few years ago and transients are just as fast in the music range, plus you get more output at below that for HT if it's a mixed system? Thanks

@@michaelcampbell9459 Other SVS and Velodyne, Polk, Boston Acoustic, Klipsch... Loved the SVS SB3000s for music. They work on movies too, can rattle the floors, and the dishes in the kitchen. Keeping mine, and no boom, I hate boom.

Thanks for sharing about a sub that we can afford but in regards to music integration with mag 1.7i how would these SVS compare to dual sealed subs with servo control from Rythmik, or your GR Research OB sub stacks? Thanks
@sidvicious31293 жыл бұрын
Hi Mikey, I have a question that probably only you can answer because I have searched the internet and KZbin. You are very familiar with Magnepans and so am I. I have owned the 1.6qr in the past. You are the only one showing dual SVS sb3000 with Magnepans. Everyone else is talking about Home Theater with SVS or just not taking them seriously for serious speakers and owners. I’m trying things your way and I ordered a SVS 4000, which will ship on Tuesday vs two Rel subs, a t7i and an older R328, which I’m for borrowing for testing, but I have had the t3 and t5i in the past. Rels integrate well, but I want more. I want to be able when I want to play any type of music and have a kick drum or bass guitar sound like they should. I want to be able to play Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” without the sub or subs bottoming out. To get what SVS is offering in the Svs sb4000 or the sb ultra will cost 7,500 in a Rel s25 or Rel S5ho- $2,500 or S810 $3,000 and either the SVS sb 4000 or the Ultra will go down to 19hz. I know the SVS will blow the doors off of the Rels, for flat out sub sonic bass, but I’m thinking of going back into Magnepans with the 1.7i and the Svs 4000 for bass duties with the possibility of a second one. I love the phone app and the balanced in and outputs on the Svs 4000 and trigger control. Are SVS subs fast enough with Maggie’s and easy enough to integrate. I see you are using two SVS sb3000 and I know you don’t like taping the amp outputs for sub duties. I’m changing components and the Vandersteen Quatros are gone and my Audio Research amp is gone and I now have two Simaudio 400m monoblocks, 36db of gain. Thank you in advance Mikey because I know you have the answer and will give it honestly.

I have 2 Velodyne HGS-15’s that still Rock It. How would I integrate these to make my HT a 4 Sub System? Use the Audessey from my Marantz on all 4, or use the built-in DSP for these 2 independently? Thought?

I have a single SVS 2000 and find it can't keep up with my Maggies, did you find these 3000s quick enough to pair with them?
@OCDHIFiGuy6 жыл бұрын
The 3000 Series has all sorts of DSP adjustments controlled by Celphone app. Big John did setup this night and you would not believe how little settings will affect everything from imaging of mids and highs to speed and accurracy. I totally recommend them as an alternative to the "hard way" which is what I do. all analog and all passive.

I gotta say, these SVS subs really kicked it with the Daft Punk. Hope to see another vid with other genres of music, and your thoughts with these long term. Price per pair seems almost a steal if they can perform better than other subs.

Hi Tom, The thing these have is built in DSP that is controllable via cellphone app, and believe me when I say adjusting bass from the listening position real time is the greatest thing since sliced bread. truly .. I am old school, so this rig will remain passive with no DSP except maybe a filter on the DAC. We will have them in a second rig though and will keep you posted.. !

I just got one SB3000 to replace my PB2000. I think I'll need two SB3000's to get the room filling boom of the PB2000 at normal listening volumes. Altho I have yet to mess around with app yet. If I turn the volume up, it can match the output of my PB2000 at 5 volume ticks lower.
@roberthart34525 жыл бұрын
Neither my SVS Plus nor Ultra manual volume control give me any control. Barely cracking either provides way too much power. My workaround: I open volume full on and use stepped attenuators between interconnect and input to get any decent control

Nice review. As you sang along with the music, I think you've got the best singing vocal in the world lol. Anyway thanks. For me, I've got the sb3000 and as a novice, I'm not sure i even understand many of this app features. You were a bit faster for me to pick up the settings you were adjusting.

Be careful with the room gain compensation. If you turn it off/on while listening to music it makes popping sound(s). I had mine for three weeks and already changed the amp. They might need to look into this.

Not at all my man. I apologize but to me home theater is not worth critique. What you dont really see in this room is the home theater with 7.4 sound and a whole audio rack in the closet. I never use it anymore.

I have 2 Sb3000s in my room, and the app has 3 presets you can name. I have a movie preset, an audiophile music preset, and extended bass preset (for showing off). I have a large listening room and they fill it with all the sound pressure levels I could ask for.
