I just bought dual PB 3000's a few weeks ago.... I am still playing with them, but they are awesome, really awesome. The whole space is more than uniform in bass and they kick and never sound stressed. Deep and full sound. The app tipped me over on these and if you have the budget get them. App works great and easy to dial in from your listening position. I felt like they were more expensive than some alternatives, but the have the latest Technology! Customer service and Warranty.

I just ordered a pair of 3000's. Reviews like yours helped me make the call. I had just purchased the 2000 pro's and they were so awesome that I knew the 3000's would be what I need. The 2000's were meant to be a place holder since I couldn't afford what I wanted. Thing is they were so amazing that I realized I was closer than I thought and if I upgraded now I could have the sound I needed. First time I upgrade because something was awesome...lol. I always upgrade when something seems lacking, this time it was because something was so good, I got inspired to go higher. Great review, thanks for painting the picture of these. Can't wait til the 29th when mine arrive. I got the isolation feet too for them so that just kicked it over the top for me. Thanks again!!

Hi not sure if your familiar with the polk audio psw 505 that's what I have now. Just ordered a pb3000 will there be a big difference in bass? I am planning on going duels with pb3000
@Subwoofer1014 ай бұрын
Yes, if you don't notice the difference, I have no business running this channel!! It will be deeper, and more kick. Because of how room correction adjusts deep bass subwoofers, you're going to want to run more gain than room correction would suggest. You'll want to go through my Bass hack series, so you can optimize everything. Mixing subs is not optimal, and while you'll hear quite a difference between the subs, you won't be able to truly hear everything that the PB-3000 is capable of until you have two of them. I went through the same thing mixing and matching with the PB-16 Ultra. Honestly, I was relatively underwhelmed until the second one came in. When I had two of them, and no other subwoofer in the mix, it's the best bass I've ever heard. The PB-3000's/PB-4000's are nearly identical in explosiveness, which makes the PB-3000 a pretty awesome subwoofer. The only subwoofer I've heard that clearly outperforms it is the PB-16 Ultra. You can run them both together, and it will be better than a single, but it's handicapping the PB-3000. Once you get the second one, you'll see what I mean. Quite a step up.

I'd say definitely. Prioritize dual matching subwoofers. Rather than 1 PB-3000, dual PB-2000 Pro's would be better overall. That said, dual PB-3000's are my favorite subwoofers all around. Only dual PB-16 Ultras outshine them audibly, at a cost, size, and weight premium. The difference in technology for subwoofers in recent years is substantial. Definitely a deeper sound. I'm an affiliate, so if you follow my link in the video description, I could potentially see a commission, but my recommendation would be the same regardless. Once you have them, my Bass Hack Video Series will help you get the most out of them. Particularly the crossover hack, distance hack, gain hack, and dialing in subwoofers by ear. The difference, especially after following my hack recommendations, should be nothing short undeniable and substantial.

I have been wanting to upgrade my PB-2000 for some time now, and had been waiting (and frankly holding out) for the PB-3000 to come out to exercise my upgrade option. Since I still feel that the pricing missed the mark, I opted to sell instead, and went with the HSU VTF-15H MK2. I really enjoy your channel, and would love to see you able to get some affiliations or review deals set up with other brands, as I feel it's mostly become an SVS channel now (understandable from a cost standpoint). It'd really be great if you were able to check out, review, measure, and compare some models from HSU, PSA, RSL, or Rythmik in addition to the SVS line. I love the SVS products, and the sound, build quality, and customer service are all top notch, but I feel it now comes with too high of a premium (or in this case, retail location markup)... and I just couldn't bring myself to overpay (just my opinion) out of a sense of brand loyalty. It's good to know that brand loyalists will still be getting an awesome product though. Keep up the good content! P.S. that RV is AWESOME!!! lol

In practice, are these SVS subs hard on your home's electrical circuits? I'm assuming the 16 Ultra is a different story, but the 1000 - 4000 line, can these be plugged into the wall like normal without expecting lights to flicker?
@Subwoofer1012 жыл бұрын
ALL of them are extremely efficient. Class D amplification is impressive. Even the PB-16 Ultra consumes less power over time than my TV. There is good capacitance, meaning the power is stored, unlike Class A amplifiers, where they consume a lot more power constantly. I've seen people install individual circuits for PB-16 Ultras, but in my opinion, it's completely unnecessary. The nature of sound is impulsive. So it's not a constant draw like an air conditioner would be. The SVS amplifiers are also like power conditioners, with the ability to run on lower voltage (weaker) circuits. I've had to build a sophisticated power system for the home theater in the motorhome, so I'm intimately familiar with the amount of power consumed. The ENTIRE theater setup, including 65" TV, Denon AVR, Fire Stick, Blu Ray player, and 2 PB-2000 Pro's, all running together consume between 200 and 450 watts in total, and when it gets close to 350 watts, things are *REALLY* rocking. It's pretty crazy how efficient they are, especially for the energy they put into the room.

@Subwoofer1012 жыл бұрын
SVS subs are game changers. The most important thing I can say about them is to turn them up. When your AVR has you set the level for your subwoofers, it always sets them too low. Most AVRs are flawed, in that they're just looking for the peak decibel output, but on an SVS subwoofer, that peak output is always much lower in frequency than the vast majority of subwoofers. That's where my bass hack series, and my Top 16 AVR settings really make a difference. Glad you found the channel!
@JayPatrol4 күн бұрын
It all depends on the size of whatever room you use these subwoofers in is the make and size you really need. I like the svs subwoofers but their speakers are too odd shaped and not appealing to me. My room is 12x 21 with opening to stairs and dining room. My house shakes and if I open the porch door the front door flexes quite a bit. Dual pb3000 in a 12ft x 16ft room size all concrete w/ an 8ft ceiling what are your thoughts is it good or bad
@Subwoofer101 Жыл бұрын
The room size is less important than most people think. I've run those subs in a 24x24 living room, and in the motorhome. They did amazingly in both scenarios, so you're golden. Follow my Bass Hack Video Series, especially the Crossover Hack, the Gain Hack, Distance Hack, adjusting subwoofers by ear, and you will get more performance than you would if you went "by the book". The only thing I would recommend specifically is textiles textiles textiles. Throw rug, curtains even if you don't have windows, anything fabric to reduce the sound reflections. Concrete produces a lot of echoes and ringing. You'll want to minimize that, but that's completely independent of subwoofer recommendation, it's something you'll want to do regardless. With dual PB-3000's, configured the way I recommend, you should be REALLY happy. Make sure that you're getting full lossless audio from your Blu-ray player (Dolby Atmos Hack), then play "The Accountant", and the shootout in the driveway toward the end of the movie will show you exactly why those subs are one of my favorites. If you follow my SVS affiliate link in the video description before you order them, I'd appreciate it, but no biggie if you can't. The only subs I like better are the PB-16 Ultras, but the difference in cost, size, and definitely weight, the PB-3000 gets really close to that level of performance and explosiveness, for quite a bit less. For example, in my living room now, the PB-3000's would be my choice, but only because of the size and weight of the PB-16 Ultras. Oddly, the fireplace makes anything "large" look out of place. I could've also shoehorned the PB-16 Ultras into the motorhome like I did with the PB-4000's, but it really got in the way of the walkway. Sounded awesome, but not sustainable. The PB-3000's were epic, and they fit a LOT better. I ended up going with the PB-2000 Pro's, simply because it made sense to be on their side, and have a flat grill. It's also more attainable, and I think that's better for demos. So each sub has certain use cases, but the PB-3000's are my favorite "premium" subs, because what they deliver with the size and cost is just crazy good, and it has a lot to do with the split wound voice coil. Sorry, kind of went down the rabbit hole there... But to answer your question, yes dual PB-3000's will work out quite well in your room.

One issue people can have is the deep sound of the SVS subs don't put out the same relative midbass as every other sub does at the same dial position. The simple solution is to match the levels of your previous sub in the 50-80 hertz range, which should result in a lot more bottom end response, while still delivering the same midbass performance you're used to. Being really loud in the midbass and quiet in the deep bass is something I consider a flaw. SVS subs are ruler flat, which means that with room gain, they get a little louder as they go deeper. A very satisfying sound in my opinion. Basically, turn up the SVS subs a little more than you would with the previous subs. You can also use the PEQ function in the SVS app to shape the curve to your liking with the PB-3000's.

Hi would 2 pb3000 have more bass than one pb16 ultra in a 24x24 sq ft room?
@Subwoofer1014 ай бұрын
Yes, you get a 6 dB gain or so, which adds to the headroom, but more importantly, it reduces the standing wave effect, making it so you can hear ALL of the bass. If you listen to a frequency sweep, with *any* single, as the bass goes deeper, you will hear it get louder and quieter as the frequency changes. The bass just goes in and out. Not even at all. With matching ported dual deep bass subwoofers, you hear the bass evenly, getting louder as you go deeper, as low as you can hear. Definitely a departure from the norm, most subwoofers get quieter as they go deeper, falling off pretty hard, giving you a "shallow" sound. In your situation, absolutely I would choose dual PB-3000's, over a single PB 16 Ultra. I did exactly that, I turned off the PB 16 Ultras in favor of dual PB-2000 originals. When I finally received the second PB 16 Ultra, THAT is when I finally understood how awesome they are. The PB 3000's are in the same ballpark, but easier to move around, less expensive, and the kick is insane. My first living room was 24x24, and I had gobs of headroom left. If you follow my affiliate link, I would appreciate it, and then doing all of my bass hacks to get the most out of them. Crossover hack, distance hack, adjusting subs by ear, and the SVS App Hack. You'll want your gain in the -13 to -16 range on the subs. I'm running these currently and they are epic. They will get a little more potent and louder as they break in, so you might need to turn them down by a dB or so once that happens. Let me know how it goes!

Trust me, duals are the way to go. Make room. Go for the PB-2000 and look for another. I prefer dual PB-2000's over a *single* PB 16 Ultra. It makes THAT big of a difference. Then watch my Gain Hack, Distance Hack, and tiny room videos. In smaller rooms, I think duals are even more important. Your room is not that small compared to my "tiny room" (the RV).

@Subwoofer101 Жыл бұрын
Room size is not really an issue, it's the standing wave effect. No matter what, with a single subwoofer, you're missing a lot of low end due to dead spots. Duals correct this, and sound better for a number of reasons. Dual PB-2000 Pro's all day, and I LOVE the PB-3000, but you can trade up to a pair of those within a year, if you go factory direct. My affiliate links in the video description are factory direct, and I can earn a commission if you follow them before purchasing, but only if you're in the USA. If you are out of the country, 1 year trade up doesn't usually apply unless specifically stated where you are buying. I would choose dual PB-2000 Pro's over a single PB-16 Ultra, which I did because I only had 1 PB-16 Ultra at first. I shut the PB-16 Ultra off and kept the dual PB-2000's until I was able to have matching PB-16 Ultras. Duals make THAT big of a difference. And mixing the 3 made it worse. Matching is important.

I dropped the ball! Dual PB-2000 Pro's, all day long for movies. The SB-3000's will do the job just fine, but you should get more relative audible bottom end out of the ported subs. And you can make the ported subs sealed. You can't make a sealed sub ported.

You state the reference scale on the preamp or receiver that is your main volume control . What are your speaker gain settings in your main menu and on the subs?
@Subwoofer1015 жыл бұрын
On the PB-3000's in the RV, the gain is around -16 or -17, and in the Denon I have the Subwoofer Level (enabled in the Audio menu) at -11.5 to -10.5 depending on mood. In the house, I might have the gain 1-2 dB higher on the subs (-15 or -16), but really not much of a difference, which is surprising given the difference in room sizes. I run the PB-4000's gain higher, about -13 on average, for the same impact. That's in the RV and the house as well. In the house, I need to run the left sub 3 dB lower since it's more in a corner than the right sub. So -14 and -11 is normal in the house. In the RV, both subs measure equal.

Well that's unexpected! I would expect that to be a timing/phase issue. Side by side, same guts, a ported should be easier on the ears. Usually 90-120 hz depending on the speaker. Always set to Small, tower speakers 90 hz, satellite/elevations 120 hz. Still getting response to the speaker under the crossover point, but it's a hard cutoff for the subs, and I believe in feeding my subs as much as possible. 90 hertz is always a minimum for me, unless I'm trying to trim bass in a very specific way. Always set the crossover for the highest value, effectively disabling the crossover on the sub itself, aka high pass filter off.

@Subwoofer1015 жыл бұрын
Splitter is totally fine. I'm using one for the SoundBase amp, works great. If you are talking about AVR's, XT32 room correction is a good option, as it is great for bass, especially in challenging rooms. Generally, that option comes with dual sub outs. You've mentioned this antipathy towards the pressurization in your TMs many times before and I've not really understood it. Does it make you nauseated or dizzy? It seems to me that subwoofing's entire point is to pressurize your TMs such that the basilar membrane endolymypatic fluid can evenly transmit resonance through the entire coil. If you don't enjoy this pressurization feel, what are you hearing? Are you listening through your skeletal structure instead? If so, you couldn't possibly be "hearing it" but rather must be "feeling it." To me ported subwoofers seem to be for "feelers" rather than "hearers." Am I wrong?
@Subwoofer1015 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to say that you are wrong, but I think it has to do with a concussion I had 18 years ago. Apparently, concussion can last a lifetime. So picked one of these up and I am getting a lot of port noise is there a way to kind of correct this other than the plugs? Ive tried the settings and I cant find the perfect balance...
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
What scenes are causing port noise? Port noise usually occurs at the deepest and the loudest points. I only detected a little, pretty much inaudible unless you are right next to it, during the opening scene of "Edge of Tomorrow" which is just a torture test, and not really representative of normal content. Unless it's really bad, I don't judge too much on that scene, if every other hard hitting scene has no port noise. Interestingly, what I have thought was port noise in that scene can be heard through the main speakers. I always put my head near the port to ensure that I'm hearing it from the sub. Port noise happens when a sub is pushed to it's limits. Running duals means you can run the gain lower than you would with a single, along with a plethora of other benefits, like more impact, and being able to hear all of the bass. Also, room correction can cause a boost in the low end, artificially sending more signal under 25 hertz due to room modes, again something duals would help with. Which scene? PB-3000 gain value? AVR make and model? AVR Subwoofer level?
@Ladybugsammiie4 жыл бұрын

@@Subwoofer101 ok so the show is Locke and Key episode 2. Start at 38 minute mark. PB3000 is at -20DB in the app. Audyssey is on. Reference level offset on at 0db. Levels is at 0db. Crossovers is at 60hz for front and center surround and heights at 100 Hz. All speakers set to small. Should be enough info. Let me know if you need more oh and main volume was at -45db

I checked it out, and there are other scenes that should cause chuffing long before this scene would. I cranked it up and with my head right next to the ports, I could *maybe* hear a hint of it, but generally nothing. No way I could hear it from my seat. I'm thinking that it might be a room correction issue, perhaps causing too much output at that frequency, causing the sub to be overdriven. If that particular frequency is in a dead spot where you did room correction (guaranteed to have dead spots with a single subwoofer) it could easily be overdriven trying to compensate for a lack of signal. When you are in a dead spot, you can crank the volume by 10 dB at that frequency and sometimes only get 1 dB of measurable increase. So the subwoofer is working like mad at that particular frequency, but you still can't hear it. One of the many reasons duals are so important. Takes the dead spots away to a large degree, and gives you more headroom so the subs don't have to work as hard to produce the same impact. Better explosiveness too, even at the same volume. I'm running dual PB-3000's. I found the scene to be kind of tame, but given the frequency, I could see how being overdriven could cause it. If another PB-3000 isn't in the cards, maybe try running room correction again, being sure to never go further than 2 feet from the first and most important sample. So all of your room correction samples should be within a 4 foot circle. That's my take on it. Also make sure your subwoofer is set to Standard mode, not sealed. A PB-3000 shouldn't have a problem with that scene.

Im currently running dual older Klipsch subs and i have a $1000 budget for new dual subs. After some searching and forum opinions i narrowed it down to the svs pb 1000 and the monolith thx 10. Both 10"s , both $500, and almost the same size boxes, the svs is 300w, where as the thx is 500w and has some pretty decent numbers. And from what ive been reading the monolith is "better", and a deal at $500. What do u think about the monolith thx 10? I havent see ur list yet, ill be checking it out!
@Subwoofer1016 жыл бұрын
I have the Monolith subs on the list, but tentatively. I want to hear them before I give the thumbs up. I'm an affiliate for both companies, so either way, if you follow my links, it helps me out. I can vouch for the PB-1000's, and the 1 year trade up can make a big difference if you want to upgrade. I can also say that I have preferred lower wattage, lower output subs because they have a deeper tone. Whether that's a factor here or not remains to be seen. I am pretty certain that I wouldn't like the THX mode on the Monolith subs, but their extended mode might have a deep enough sound to make the list.

remember MOST people plug these into a shared 15amp circuit (15amp x 120 volts = 1800 watts) so when you add a sub that has a 1000+ watt amplifier that is sharing with your TV (say taking 2 or 3 amps), your receiver (taking 2 or 3 amps realistically if using the 80hz crossover), your other accessories (2 amps), your lighting, (1 - 2 amps) So in other words. A regular 15 amp circuit wont power all of our big toys. Having at least 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits is ideal to let these subwoofers really play. That is why some of these "smaller" subs really keep up with the bigger ones. The bigger subs are getting starved for power

Ah, the magic of Class D amplification and strong capacitance! The RV Project allows me to test this very theory. 15 amp, 20 amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp power connections make zero difference. 2,000 watts to nearly 10,000 available watts, no change. I could comfortably drive dual PB 16 Ultras on a 10 amp circuit. That amp can also compensate for low voltages. It's pretty impressive. To be clear, I was absolutely concerned about the this as well, so I'm not picking on you. Very efficient amps, thankfully!
@thomasnew86066 жыл бұрын
@@Subwoofer101 Honestly you are not correct by saying power connections (I assume you mean the amperage/power available) make zero difference. Yes a Class D amp is efficient and yes some capacitance built into the amp will help with the large bass peaks. How do you think the amp "compensates" for low voltages??? It does this by less power output of course. Power (watts) = amp x volts For sustained max performance, you have to have the power available to sustain the output. Many other electronics do not have any capacitance so they will pull the power no matter what. You can't ignore simple physics You should buy a "kill a watt" meter to see how much power the subs, or anything are really taking.
@Subwoofer1016 жыл бұрын
I have a Kill O Watt meter. Did you think I was pulling it out of my nethers? My Denon X6200, 65" LED 4K TV, dual PB-16 Ultras, and the LED lights behind the TV easily consumed LESS than 500 watts *combined*, while bumping at a pretty good volume, according to the meter. All in all, a pretty efficient setup. My 42 inch plasma TV, in STARK contrast, consumes over 250 watts all by itself! Pretty lousy. I'm aware of this because I'm sizing a solar system for the RV, so I'm aware of voltage/amperage/wattage relationships, as well of the limitations of my flooded lead acid batteries, the losses during conversion to AC, losses from higher consumption, heat and cold, wire size limitations, c ratings, and the importance of Pure Sine AC power as opposed to modified sine. I'm not an electrician, but I'm not going to be fooled into looking for a bucket of ohms anytime soon either. In referring to the amp connections, I'm talking about different power supplies for the RV. Plugged into a shared 15 amp power outlet, then a dedicated and shared 20, then a dedicated 30, and all the way to a dedicated 50 amp power outlet (basically dual 50 amp 120 volt circuits), there is no appreciable/audible difference with the amount of power available with the X6200 and dual PB-3000's. With the system bumping at a serious level, there was easily less than a 1 volt drop according to the meter, when plugged into a shared 20 amp circuit, which also runs our coffee pot, lights, ice maker, and refrigerator in the house. Voltage drop had less to do with the theater than it did with other appliances in use, and the cord length. I won't run at a voltage under 114. Normally 118 in that case. I can, however, run both 15,000 btu air conditioners, a dehumidifier, microwave, coffee maker, my home theater, and still have my wife use her blow dryer on a 50 amp plug. Basically 10,000-12,000 available watts, give or take. It's a 50 amp, 240 volt plug, split to 120 volts. We did this just to see if we could trip a breaker. No luck doing so. With everything else off, and a MASSIVE 10,000+ watts available to run just the home theater alone, there is no audible difference running dual PB-3000's, the Denon, and TV versus a shared 15 amp plug, assuming the same voltage at the surge protector plug that powers the theater. I'm not ignoring physics. If you have a Class A 1,500 watt amp with no capacitance, then yes, you are absolutely correct, you need to consider dedicated circuits. You basically have a space heater that also happens to power your speakers. For the SVS Class D amps, with enough capacitance to keep playing a while (3-15 seconds) when unplugged, and so long as you aren't seeing significant voltage sag from other loads or otherwise, no need for a dedicated circuit, in my experience with these subs. But of course, consult an electrician, and maybe even your doctor just to be safe... =)

@@Subwoofer101 Spot on, I just had to dig a little and you provided great info! And yes like you say just because a sub or any audio amplifier says (X) watt output does not mean it actually does that and if so normally for a very short amount of time. I have a Sunfire HRS12 (1000 watt amp) and when playing it very loud, the meter rarely shows over 400 watts. I also have a 50inch Samsung plasma from 2008 that I got on sale for $1,800!!!Haha Talk about a space heater. That think sucks 500watts no matter what. Not our main TV anymore but the picture is great. Anyway, I appreciate your replies and you have a great knowledge. Enjoy the system!

Thanks! Yeah 2009 is about when I bought my 42" heater/TV. The 65" LED draws around 100 watts or so, if I recall correctly. Much cooler too. The Denon is easily the warmest device in the mix now.

Great video...very informative.....this is the first time I heard it explained clearly about the difference with ported and sealed subwoofers.... I prefer ported over the sealed...as you said going deep vs sounding deep is on point... maybe for spl the pressure created by a sealed box may work better....

Hey there! I need a bit of assistance with my SVS PB2000. I am experiencing null in the center of the room (happens to be where i'm sitting at to get the proper 40 degrees view). I tried positioning next to the null, i tried positioning different spaces in front i even tried to lift it (on my bed) to bring it to ear level but still i experience null at the center of the room where i sit. Everywhere else be it when i stand up or move forward or backwards half a meters... even left and right i start hearing proper amount of bass. Somewhere worse somewhere on spot shaking. The phase is set to 0 degrees and it has been properly calibrated by audyssey. Without calibration it doesn't blend with the speakers and still experiencing null in the middle. Any suggestion would help! I am siting at about 1.3 meters away from the sub (because it's so huuuge and i'm 1.68 meters in front of my 55 inch display).

You just wrote an essay on the importance of dual subwoofers! Probably not what you were hoping to hear, but that's the problem. It's a physics problem, a single subwoofer causes a standing wave and dead spots. As you discovered on your own, it is everywhere in the room, no matter where you go, you will be in a dead spot at one frequency or another. As the frequency changes, the dead spots move to other parts of the room. Pretty much no such thing as a "sweet spot" with a single subwoofer. The only way to resolve it properly is a second, identical sub. You can try my Distance Hack, you might recover a little more lost bass, but the only way to really hear it all is with duals. If you do the Distance Hack with dual PB-2000's, you will hear everything, and the bass will be more even and proper.

@@Subwoofer101 is there a way to move this null or dead spot somewhere else in the room? Have you had success in fighting the standing waves and nulls with a single sub? Yeah tried the distance hack it improved a bit but not even close to how it sounds outside this null zone. The only other thing i am left with is to try the whole room with placement try to find the right spot? I do have a plan on getting a second sub but currently i'm all outa money and gotta get the rest of the surround speakers including the floor standers :(

I want to upgrade my PB-2000 for a 3000. I chose that option over going to dual PB-2000 even if I might be wrong.. I hope the 3000 will fill the 4500 cubic room better with higher quality bass. I can't afford dual 3000, but I'm still unsureI If two PB-2000 will sound more satisfying than one 3000. In other words is the difference between 3000 and 2000 considerable enough to upgrade ...what a hard decision...
