Does the Inline Testee test all the way to the spark plug, when you have it connected from the spark plug wire to the spark plugs?

I have the same part number tester but the "light capsule" is different. Both ends are male, but one has a screw on cap to access the bulb. The instructions say either end of the kit cable can go on the spark plug but to put the other end of the wire/cable on the 'male end" of the bulb/light part. WTF? does it matter which end of the light unit goes to the cable/wire? ...Also, the light in the clear plastic was rattling loose when I bought it. I extended the spring on the light bulb so both ends would make contact inside the test light. The whole thing is ridiculously simple looking but with vague instructions.
