This is the reception of BBC broadcasts to Afghanistan, beamed from Al Seela, Oman on 21470 kHz.
BBC transmissions to Afghanistan from Oman are aimed approximately in NE direction, while I am located roughly NW of this site, so I'm off-the side, and likely in a null of their directional arrays. Hence, I always experience weak signals from those beams.
However, on 13m band, with its very low noise floor, a decent reception is possible.
Now, for some reason, Aoki broadcast database (via short-wave.info) lists Dari broadcasts as running exactly from an antenna beaming 63deg, while Pashto ones are from a 35deg beam. Why such a difference, especially if it wasn't there in the past?
Apparently, the BBC treats some audiences better than others regarding shortwave broadcasts...
