Looks a great flexible system, I think it would be perfect on the removable racks too. I had Bumot hard cases on my GSA, loved them but so heavy on an already heavy bike. Great that you can transfer the system between bikes.

Yep these were fitted to the removeable Pro side carriers. Very handy for dumping the whole lot off when you dont need it

This review was VERY helpful. Thank you! I used to have the Givi Trekker plastic cases and besides maybe the looks, they are probably better than these. Their cable is adaptable and allows you to open from the side or you can open half of it from the top. It’s pretty good. Their cases are also interchangeable. It’s just a matter of if i can live with their look in all black.
@teneretraveller89807 ай бұрын
Width. I used to swear by hard luggage, but sold the bigger stuff off. I understand the advantages but would probably still be stuck in Rome, Athens or Prague, etc, if I couldn't filter. Anything wider than the handlebars is now off limits to me. A hard top box is OK but at 4kg before you start it has a big effect when loaded ( for me ). It's easy on my own, with a bag strapped behind me on the seat, but she usually comes with me now, which is often when you need the most space, of course. But it does look well made and is a lot cheaper than Honda's OE kit. Good review. And by the way, the Africa Twin looks way better with a 21 inch front. Ride safe 👍
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
I have to agree, I prefer to keep things slim and one problem with the Africa Twin is that the side carrier sits outside the exhaust. This makes the back end very wide

Something helpful to consider including in future product detail videos is wether or not the case can be left unlocked. Givi cases, for example, can NOT be left unlocked and require the key every time, whereas Shad cases CAN be left unlocked. Does the optional locking kit for the DUSC allow them to remain unlocked without the key?
@mancavemoto25 күн бұрын
Good point, and they can't no, you need to have the key inserted

I like the looks of these. Rather stylish. But they are not top-loaders. My favourite adventure bike cases are the top-loading Hepco & Becker Gobi cases. I'd be interested if SW-Motech did these DUCS frames/cases for my SCR950. No chance of that, though. I like the camera bag. Great idea. Nick
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
Hi Nick, they do offer their SLC side carriers for the SCR950, but i'm not sure they would be a wide enough base to cater for the DUSC fittings?
@G91YS7 ай бұрын
Sorry if I missed it, but can I use the DUSC case on an ALU-RACK? Are there adaptators for it?
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
Yes, I think there is an adapter plate that you would need for the Trax, so I assume the DUSC fittings would work with that too. That would be something to confirm on the website 👍

How do they compare to the Honda factory plastic panniers? I think perhaps the Honda ones are more tailored to the shape of the bike?
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
The Honda ones are a thicker plastic, not the thin ABS, but yes they are shaped to ‘step’ over the exhaust, where these are not and so are wider

The only thing I don't like is the fact that manufacturers always make black cases. My reasoning for buying aluminium is simply that when car headlights hit them, they reflect the light back. Cases that extend past the width of the bike are vulnerable to other road users. I wish there was a way to incorporate ABS cases and metal coloured reflective plates. Car drivers are not looking for bikes the best of times and completely unaware of their power and speed, I'd prefer to have a luggage system that have road visibility
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
Good point, I like light coloured cases for another reason, on hot sunny days they also keep the contents cooler.

Thinking of getting the 41L top box as trying to save some weight as i got a new 24 spec ATAS on order,does your Helmet fit normal way or do you have to put it on its side as could not quite see ?
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
That depends on the helmet. The X.Wed has a high peak that sits on top, so i had to lay that on its side. But a standard road helmet, and indeed my Arai Tour X5 fit sat on their base

I got my size L for top case, noticed the fitment is not tight: there is a ~2mm wiggle room between the case and the base plate. Does yours have that issue?
@mancavemoto3 ай бұрын
Once locked into place?
@ethantang62823 ай бұрын
@@mancavemoto Yes, it just isn't tight enough. If I shake the bike, the top box will wiggle and produce a banging sound between plastics. I sent it back to my local SW dealer for inspection and they said it's within manufacturing tolerance, but can give me a refund if I'd like. Don't know if I should stick with it I reallty like the style but the wiggle is irritating :(
@mancavemoto3 ай бұрын
Hmm, mine doesnt do that, maybe worth rechecking the installation to make sure? it could be the position of the raised lock tab at the back of the rack?

Huge step backwards with the side opening panniers. That's why many of the top manufacturers don't make them. You open them and your stuff falls out.
@mancavemoto7 ай бұрын
Not really a step backwards as a lot of manufacturers had made clam shell cases for years and continue to do so. If you use internal bags that’s not a problem and this style means you can switch from side to top case. It’s all about adding choice for the consumer
@nikoscosmos7 ай бұрын
Looks OK as a top box, but having persevered with BMW vario side opening cases for years, no more side opening for me! I couldn't get my stuff out parked by the side of a car ferry deck.
