Frankly I love the KTM bags as they leave nothing behind when you are not using them. They are a bit fiddly, but they will hold any downpour and they are solid both as mounting and as bags in their own right

Love your work. I had the GT with the KTM panniers & they were great. The lock is keyed to the ignition key, so lock on / off & opened without seperate key. I say had because police in the nanny state where I live, (Victoria, Australia), said it was toooo fast, so 12 months of walking etc. Best bike I've ever ridden, let alone owned. Never rode in heavy rain, but an inner bag is the go anyway. I know the panniers aren't cheap, but worth it.

Yeah would love to try the stock panniers, unfortunately not available to me for review, and can't say I want to fork out that amount of coin, just to test them.

A good upgrade on nylon throw-overs. Lockable and secure to the bike, not as bulky/pricey as boxes. Can't wait for your camping exploits, love a tent hol! Bed or mat? Big tent small tent? Camp meals or find a cafe? Nice vid👊✊

The evo system is great idea, I use it on my 2001 XJR to fit 42l Givi panniers! once the frame holder is removed it keeps the look of the bike!

Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you're enjoying them. I on the other hand like the inner dry bags, and hasn't inconvenienced me at all. I don't know of any others who provide soft luggage without one. Waterproofing is kinda important to me as I ride all year round in all weather's.

Hi They still sell them! If you're using the bike filter and they don't appear in the list, it probably means they don't fit on your particular bike.

@TheLikeableRider this has been the biggest downside to my ktm 1290gt. The luggage has virtually no aftermarket at all. The aero abs system is available still but the particular kit for the gt doesn't appear to be. Thank you for responding to such an old video comment.

You'll have to explain the ball point pen test lol but yes the zippers are good quality! Haven't had one fail on any of my gear from SWMOTECH, and I've had a lot lol

Ah m8 they're the best! Must have over 10,000km on this set, wet and dry touring, track day.....all without problem on this rubber. Got a new set waiting which I'm to review, so there will be a video coming soon on them.

Question, lets say you fill them with staff to go on a trip. You take them out and fill them with clothes and staff. How do you lock them in place if they are already loaded?

The locking mechanism is at the top, so you can still get to it when they're loaded.

It is inside, but at the top so you can still get to it. Not to forget, its prevents a quick steal, if someone really wants to steal you luggage then they will, regards of soft or hard luggage.

@@paulpartridge2674 good man Paul! It's a tire that does it all.....well! Even an intermediate track day wasn't a problem. I reckon I could get 12,000km out of them, baring in mind I took a couple of mm off on the track day. The legal tread limit here in Germany is 1.6mm which is before the tread wear indicator on the tire, is the legal minimum limit 1mm in the UK? I'm down to 1.6mm in the middle and 1.7mm on the shoulder, so wear is fairly equal throughout. Got a new set waiting to go on which I was sent from Michelin, so a review will.be coming soon, although by that time you'll have made your own mind up on them.

1mm across 2/3 of tire I think , but to be honest I wouldn't go that low Germany 1.6 mm makes more sense especially in the wet .

Slight different question, having a 1290 gt. I've recently had my bike updated software wise. There was an engine management update. It feels less powerful, lost its magic umpf. Have u had a similar update and felt the same? Or heard someone who has pls? Tks

Don't forget that these are available for a number of bikes, and for bikes where a panniers system just isn't available from the manufacturer, this is just an example. This bike doesn't come standard with the KTM panniers here in Germany, so this could be a cheaper option for people. It's known by KTM that their panniers have problems, so again this is just another option.

Unfortunately they don't come stock with the bike here in Germany, would have liked to test them myself to see if they're as bad as many say. Spoke to a few online who haven't any problems with them.

Seems rather silly to unlock the panniers from the inside when you have a case full of things. So in essence you will need to unzip the bag, reach inside and unlock the dial before you can use the thumb release. Hmmmmmm.... someone didn’t think it through.

Don't understand why you would want to add racking to a bike that has mounts for factory integrated panniers? In the USA they come as standard on the SDGT, guess in the UK and elsewhere its a cheaper option as I understand they don't come as standard.

Unfortunately I don't have a set of the KTM panniers available to compare them to. They don't come with the bike as standard here in germany, and because I'd also heard the problems people had with them, I was reluctant to pay the 800 euros they were asking for them.
