Great install video. I’m facing the same dilemma you expressed in the video about figuring out the dizzying combination of racks and panniers. Like you, I want to be able to remove the racks so I think SW-Motech is the answer. But for panniers, do you know if you have to use SW-Motech brand with these racks or can you fit Mosko, Tusk, Lone Rider, etc.?
@GrumpyGoat10 ай бұрын
The product page says: - Secure hold for TRAX, AERO and SysBags with adapter plate (SysBag 15, 30, WP L) - Adapter kits for attaching cases from Givi/Kappa, Krauser and Shad are also available TRAX, AERO and SysBags are all SW Motech, and while they mention cases from Givi/Kappa, Krauser and Shad, other manufacturers may be supported. You may want to check the product pages for the Mosko, Tusk, Lone Rider panniers and see what racks they are compatible with. Manufacturers of racks and panniers know that customers mix and match.

Thanks @GrumpyGoat. BTW, I have the same year and color TTRP. Really love the bike. I’ve added a number of accessories, but racks and panniers requires some forward thinking (and deep pockets!). Be safe out there.

Below your M7 plate, and above the license plate assembly...do you see the small hole/gap there? I'm told a lot of water, mud, road debris etc comes up through there, and gets on your soft bags. So...I bought a platic piece that fits in there to plug that gap hole. You have to drill 2 holes to punch it together. I think I got it from Pyramid Plastics in the UK, or perhaps from Ali Express I cant remember but it turned out great. I also got a an Ali Express shock absorber cover..that goes in front of the rear tire..to stop road debris and mud etc from getting up under there. Pyramid Plastics sells one but I went much cheaper with Ali Express. The front tire guard...I had to get from Pyramid Plastics caleld the Fenda Extenda..as the Ali Express didnt' fit and is only for the Tiger 900 GT..does NOT work.

I did see on the forums that people were plugging that gap and thought it strange. Your explanation makes sense. I have not been in muddy conditions yet (or even rain with the panniers) but I expect in those conditions muddy stuff would go everywhere. I guess I'm not bothered at the moment, but thanks for the heads-up.

Great review and install video. I had some soft bags on my R1200GS and am now considering some of the other options for my Tiger. Can I ask you about your cool dry seat cover? What brand is that and how do you like it? Does it make the seat more comfortable or is it more for keeping cooler in hot climates?
@GrumpyGoat Жыл бұрын
Thanks. It’s a Chinese knock off of a Cool Covers seat. Video coming. Video already on the channel for both the RS and the Tracer before it. More comfortable and cooler.

I added one on mine for both my seat and passenger seat. I had to cut some of the excess material off from the passenger seat however. Works GREAT!

Looks like you got a mesh seat cover? Also does your seat create a gap between fuel tank and a seat when you sit on the bike?
@GrumpyGoat8 ай бұрын
Yes, and there is a video for that too in the Tiger modifications playlist. No gap between the seat and tank when I sit on the seat or otherwise. When the seat is fitted properly the gap is very small and with the mesh cover it is pretty snug. Mesh Seat Cover ... Hi, first of all thank you for your great videos. Did you have to disconnect the control unit to install the carrier as in the description? Greetings Christian
@GrumpyGoat8 ай бұрын
Thanks Christian. No need to remove any control unit to install the SW Motech Pro Side Carrier tabs, IIRC.

do you think the adapter plates can be used to mount mosko moto, lone rider bags etc? I've a SW motech rack and im lazy to change the whole rack just for a bag.
@GrumpyGoat8 ай бұрын
Depends on whether the panniers have straps that can be threaded through the slots in the adapter plates. If so then they will work. Now the SysBags are said to be able to work with other racks just by using the straps, so if the bags you mentioned also have straps then maybe they can do the reverse, i.e. strap directly to your SWM racks. But I would not vouch for the robustness of the mounting. You can go to the website for the panniers and see if they have straps that may work and then compare with the slots on the SWM adapter plates. You could also reach out to SWM directly.

A little confused on where the lock washers go. Do you put the cam lock through the rack, washer, then attach to bike?
@GrumpyGoat7 ай бұрын
Yes. When the lock knob is installed on the rack, it is the washer that keeps it from falling off the rack. Then when you install the rack on the bike you simply turn the knob to align the prongs with the slots in the holes on the tab and turn the knob. Of course the key needs to be used to lock the knob to keep it from spinning, when installing the rack. After it is attached then use the key to set the knob to spin freely.
