Also, record contract are written to keep artist in debt. On an average contract, an artist might get between $20-50k. Everything else is fees that benefit the record company. And royalties might only be a couple cents on the dollar and you don't typically own your masters. That is why so many artist end up broke so quick. Living that life, looking flashy. Then get the shock of their life and find out that they're broke. I like Swae Lee. Here's hoping that he's an outlier.
