In answer to your question ‘why didn’t Allah punish Shaitaan?’: Shaitaan was the leader of the Jinns, a creation of made of smokeless fire, who unlike fsrishtay (angels) had free will and are powerful. His name was Iblees and was a leader of his kind, he was an obedient subject of Allah. However, since he didn’t accept to bow down, unlike the angels, to Adam and Allah banished him from his service because of his arrogance, Shaitaan asked Allah for the sake of his service to him that he deserves to be granted time surely a favour that until judgement day give him a chance to prove that he is better than his human creation. Allah granted him his wish and exiled him into hell with free will to do carry out his promise of misguiding mankind. He also warned him that he will never be able to corrupt his true believers. This is how he became the enemy of mankind and flag bearer of evil and known as Shaitaan/Devil. Farishtay/angles are also a creation of Allah. They were created with no free will unlike humans and jinns. Jinns are created from a smokeless fire, they have free will and they procreate just like humankind, live parallel to humans. I don't know if every Prophet was an inventor as well. Of course, we know about Noah (Nuh in Islam) who made "Noah's Ark", the huge boat that saved the believers and other living beings.
