And of the day that Congolese Swahili it’s absolutely not Swahili but people force it especially Congolese. That really kills the Swahili language. They should learn Swahili unless they better say they have few words of Swahili but not like they speak. Mtu analazimisha moja kuwa moya how come 😢🚮🚮🚮🚮

Swahili in its purest form is spoken all along the swahili coast from Lamu to northern mocambique. The most prominent dialect which was adopted by congo, rwanda and all the other east african nations is the Unguja dialect(Zanzibar). this was for a number of reasons, one being the Zanzibaris would raid for Slaves in eastern Congo and thoses areas. secondly the germans promoted this dialect when they took control of Tanganyika. So it's not that Tanzanians spoke the best swahili, its that is the most pronounced version of it at its best. but coastal Kenyans speak just as well. This coming from a ethnic swahili from Tanga

Well, I think the young generation is richer in Kiswahili than older generations, some of the words they are struggling with are prevalent in people of their age as compared to the younger generation. I am happy the country is taking some big steps towards improving this language which are huge steps towards promoting africanacity.

Congratulation to all three but especially to the lady from Congo... @10:50 in swahili from south Congo (Lubumbashi) "bantu' means people. it is the plural of "Muntu" which means human being...so when they say Bantu language they refer to the languages spoken by people from DR Congo mostly from SE Congo... It is the Catholic priest father: Placide Tempels who made some studies about these people ..the father Placide Tempels wrote a book intitled : " la philosophie bantoue" in 1945. in any case SE congolese are the only people on earth who call themselves bantu and muntu... i also observe that our sisters from Tanzania and from Kenya respectively cannot find the name of the leopard in their swahili... yet in swahili from lubumbashi everybody knows that it is " chui"... actually the swahili from Congo should be much older than other swahili

This is funny! Swahili is not pure african, look at the word swahili itsef. It is arabic, meaning coastal. Swahili is a mixed language, based on the east african coastal bantu languages, with the addition of Arabic, Persian, Indian, Portuguese and more.
@mahinanama
@mahinanama Жыл бұрын
@@Ali-nl2du the real name of the so called swahili language is kingwana. Arabs from Oman used to go deep in central Africa for slaves trade. That's how bangwana people and language was spread from central to east Africa. Later it becomes the Lingua Franca used by arabs and other Africans to trade and the descendants of bangwana who were slaves in Zanzibar renamed their language Swahili. During the colonization, as Europeans authorites were searching how to administrate the African countries, they noticed, thanks to ethnologists that the kingwana language which was mainly spoken in East of Congo, North Zambia,South of Uganda and West Mozambique was actually the same language as the Swahili of Tanzania, Kenya and Zanzibar. There were some vocabulary differences many arabs and Persian words have been introduced in the Swahili of Tanzania and Zanzibar. That's very normal considering the domination of the sultan of Oman on those two regions. The vocabulary regarding spirituality can easily tell you the origin of a language. As a Bantu language, the Swahili observes the class rules for nouns, with a stem that indicates the meaning and suffixes and prefixes that indicate whether it is an object, an animal, a being or a concept. for example, Ngu is the radical which indicates the sky. Mu is the prefix that indicates being. Mungu means God in Swahili, wingu means cloud, binguni means in the sky, it is a concept that also means paradise. as you can see, Ngu being the radical, we can easily identify the derived words. I don't think Arabic obeys these rules grammatically. the fact that Julius Nyerere decided to standardize Swahili and make it the official language of Tanzania, contributed to a poor knowledge of the history of this language. Yes, I affirm it, Kingwana and Swahili are the same language, with the only difference being that Kingwana have kept the Bantu, African origin words. where Swahili has introduced and borrowed vocabularies from Arabic and Persian. but the grammar, the conjugation have remained the same, those of a Bantu language.

@@mahinanama The swahili city states, hence the swahili language, existed long before the arrival of Omani arabs in the coastal areas. Yes, Omani Arabs assisted in spreading the language deep into the interior of east africa, including the Congo. That happened during their trade caravans, which sadly, also included the slave trade. As an African, I believe they should offer us apologies and reparations for this heinous act. I demand the same from Europeans and other nations which took part in the slave trade or somehow profited from it. And from those who colonized us and until now, are stealing our wealth and resources. Back on topic: Kingwana is simply a swahili dialect. It is an offshoot of the Swahili language, not a source. That credit goes to bantu languages of coastal dwellers (the swahili people). I’m a swahili myself. I have visited several swahili towns and cities all along the coast, from Kenya to Tanzania, including the Islands. Wherever I came, I noticed similarities between their dialects and my dialect of kimakunduchi (kihadimu) from south Zanzibar. These coastal bantu dialects are the basis of modern kiswahili. It is the English who made swahili the official language, it simply made sense to them because the language was already widespread. It made it easier for them in their endeavor to colonize us. They chose the Unguja dialect (Zanzibar town) as the standard swahili - kiswahili sanifu. Nyerere was simply pragmatic enough to follow suit and declare the language the official language of TZ. That was just a formality from his part. Yes swahili is an african language with african grammar. As a coastal language, swahili contains between 15% to 40% loan words. The % is higher along the coast where the contact with foreigners was more intensive, and less towards the interior, for obvious reasons. Your Kingwana2Kiswahili theory does not hold. The reverse is true.

The Kiswahili language has may dialects differing from one region to another. Even in Tanzania you will find that the Zanzibaris criticise the Kiswahili that is being spoken in the mainland (Tanganyika). In Kenya the Kiswahili of the coast region is more or less like that of Tanzania but when you travel upcountry it keeps on changing or deteriorating. In Mombasa for example one would say "Yuko hapa" while in Nairobi you will hear "Ako hapa". When you go to Dar es Salaam they say "Yupo hapa".

It is time the East Africa Community comes up with standard Swahili
@Editor-dt6sq
@Editor-dt6sq 2 жыл бұрын
There is no standard language anywhere. Culture significantly influences accents and slangs. In the UK, the Scots don't speak like the English, Irish, and the Welsh as the have very distinct accents. Australians, the British, Canadians, Caribbeans, Africans, and Americans (US people) all speak differently. Even within individual countries, people have different accents depending on the regions they live in. For example, Londoners and Liverpudlians speak differently, and so are the New Yonkers and Texans. We Africans must love to embrace our differences and stay united in dynamism because people can never be similar.
@TalesInAncientBooks

@@Editor-dt6sq That is true. I was thinking of having something similar to the standard UK English, Standard US English or Standard Australian English. Since we are all in the same community now, Swahili might become the official language for the political institutions the community sets up. It will help if there is the standard way of writing official documents for example. The people can continue using their local dialects as they wish

@@neemayatosha1618 The person from the U.K says rubbish, chips, and and "leftenant." The person from the US says trash, french fries and "lutenant>" do you get me now? language is al about learning what other people say differently so that people can have smooth conversations. The Kiswahili spoken in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda are identical, but the one spoken in Congo is only slightly different but does not affect conversations. Standardizing Kiswahili would mean demeaning other people's dialects, which is a form of cultural discrimination. The best thing to do is to develop a Kiswahili dictionary that integrates all East African dialects. Inclusion is better than standardization when addressing issues on culture. Rember, Caribbeans and North Americans understand each other, although they speak different forms of English. Kiswahili, in itself, is a standard language that unites East Africans.

Was someone competing with you or something? As far as I know, Kenyans are comfortable with their sheng version. For us Ugandans, Luganda is preferred but we are trying to add Swahili slowly slowly.

Tanzanians are really fluent with their Swahili, 🇰🇪 In Kenya, our Swahili is influenced by our local languages and sheng Congolese Swahili has a bit of French and local language influence

Kenyan and Tanzanian Swahili is the same, only that Tanzanians mispronounce "r" & "L". Then there's sheng in Kenya which is a mixture of English, Swahili, Bantu and Nilotic words and sometimes some words are pronounced backwards etc....it's a whole tribe on its own 😂 and it changes with every generation, season, trend, clique etc ....it's very complicated😂

My friend it never the same. Starting from prononcition and sentence structure 😂 . However, the only people we could compare with Tanzanians are coastal people. Mutu? Kukuja? Kukula? Kukuja, Yuko kwa nyumba. Venye ulivyo. 🤣 You wonder
