We can still remember Aleah through Trees of Eternity such a loss. This Album though is a masterpiece, gotta completely disagree with you wanting it to be heavier it would spoil the raw emotion from what this album is which is about the loss of a friend and love one in Aleah's death .... Not everything needs to be heavy dude

I agree the solace continues throughout like a hommage to her. Her creativity and presence is definitely there. I can't imagine the grief the band had to process and go through to get the record recorded. It had to have been strange. Like missing the last piece of the puzzle that you bang your head against the wall trying to find.

Agree with everything you said in this review, Stone Wings being the best song in the album (or more memorable) and it being not heavy enough (or could have been more) especially given Empire of Loneliness and Gathering of Black Moths who where on the other end of the spectrum but just amazing

If the different stages of grievance were illustrated by Juha's work, Hallatar album that came was all about the anger. This one is all about reaching the last stage of grievance: acceptance and celebrating life again. It is a very profound, honest and emotional composition that really speak deep into, as doom masterpieces do. Remember the words that "Aurea Lumina" left us: "Death is stronger than life. Love is stronger than death".

I don't understand Blaine's disliking for clean vocals in doom. Has he ever listened to Warning? Ahab? Woods of Ypres? Even Bell Witch...so many great doom bands have teriffic clean vocals that work really well. Both work in different ways. I don't know how anyone who listens to metal regularly can only prefer screaming and growling. Seems like a boring way of going about things.

First I am not much of a Death/Doom fan, its ok, but I do like StS. I've seen them live 3 times I think, and always really enjoyed their performance, even better than their records which I do really like. I felt this album was a tad boring because it lacked enough heavy parts to keep the energy. This is a bit more slow and melancholic than I prefer, so I am kind of in agreeance with Blayne.

I'll never understand why band logos are made to be undecipherable and unintelligible. If I were to ask a thousand people and show them the Desecravity logo I don't anyone would guess the name correctly or would even be able name one letter of it. This phenomenon has gotten progressively worse over the years. If it were me I would my band's name to be readily identifiable by its logo. Iron Maiden tee shirts can be seen and recognized from great distance. What makes Desecravity even more inscrutable is the name itself. After much thought and I may be wrong, but I think the name may be a combination of the words"desecrate" and "depravity" . Why overcomplicate it? Keep it simple.DEATH was a good choice. Going to find their music now based on your description of their genre and your review. Seems promising.
