Destiny in this human birth is a mixture of PRARABDH karma + KRIYAMAAN karma. PRARABDH karma is the small portion of our sanchit karmas( past karmas ) which we have to go through. But the kriyamaan karma portion is in our hands through our free will. With this free will if we put in the best efforts and adding bhakti to it will result in tremendous change in our destiny. ' Life span , Actions , Wealth , Knowledge and Death ' : these five things are given to every one as destiny at the time of birth . From the accumulated actions from several past birthdays portion is allocated as ' prarabdha karma ' . Along with that prarabdha karma , whatever we perform in this life as ' kriyaman karma' , we make and shape our destiny in a present life . We can even wash away the bad things stored in our ' sanchita karma ' by purifying our ways and actions in the kriyaman karmas of the present life . Our Scriptures abound in moral tales highlighting the power of kriyaman karma through devotion . If our devotion to God is firm , deep-rooted and true , HE will bestow His special grace to absolve our accumulated karma .

Swamiji teaches us karmas are 3 types Sanchit prarabdh and kriyaman respectively. Swamiji teaches us how to overcome the bad prarabdh. An inspired story was taught by our beloved Swamiji.extract from Narad puran There was a king Sumit and Satyamathi very successful King. Sage Vibandakh asked the king for his prospirity and sucess. Iñ past life the king Sumit was a cruel man and did lot of sins . As a results of bad karma he was gave up by his parents. He went to forest and saw an old temple. He took shelter there and started serving the lord with devotion. After some days a lady came and joined with him serving God. After passing some days both grew old and died.In next birth he became king and Satyamathi became his wife. In their past life as they did serving God with pure devotion he overcame the bad karmas.Swamiji advises us to learn to utilise the time properly.So that we can also overcome self efforts.
