Not bad! If I'm going to drop 30k on an ultralight, I would sure prefer something like this to a bugs-in-the-teeth aerolite 103.

Love it. High-wing cantilever ultralights are rare. Great visibility. Low wings block much of the scenery in flight.

Most owners of an aircraft like this will want to keep it at a tie down or shade hangar and I'm not personally comfortable having the entire engine exposed to the elements without a cowling. I'm guessing that Part 103 weight restrictions obviate that, but I can't help but think that this design would be better if a cowling could somehow be managed.

Thanks for the video! As for the sound quality issue, a clip-on mic or a WiFi cordless mic would be much better.

looks great. only things i can think of OTTOMH, the trailer really should be a double axle trailer imho, and for the plane itself the only thing i dont like about those is the tractor configuration, but i understand why it was done with that tail boom.

Pretty neat, it's a full aircraft. If instead you sit on the tail boom and wing, the canopy could be a simple stand alone part that wouldn't need to be so nicely blended in with the wing. In a pusher config the engine could be in the draft of the cabin and if it used a smaller propeller it would need less height above the tail boom and could operate on a direct drive engine meant to operate around 4000rpm so you don't need aviation specific engines. A smaller propeller is a bit less efficient but it's not like a part 103 plane is an ultra performer so that could perhaps be a very desirable compromise. It might open it to a nice range of low cost capable engines. Maybe even some non aviation rotax. A one piece boom, one piece wing and one piece canopy should make transport fairly easy. With a long skinny wing on a light plane it might be quite an excellent aircraft. A nice modern higher rpm hum might give it a more pleasant sound that the tractor shake we know too well. And maybe there is a small after market tweak that could allow it to exceed 60mph in practice. A part 103 could be made as well as the highest performing gliders. Doesn't have to be a barn build. Could even have airconditioning and parachute and autopilot.

Will the wings fold?
@TheTxfishin16 ай бұрын
Yes, and the tail will fold where it bolts together Unfortunately this will happen in fight and not be a good thing There are way better proven designs to make a plane transport-able than this accident waiting to happen

Lets see the 2 seat version. The trailer need more ground clearance, try bigger tires or arched springs. The trailer can easily be sourced in US the plane can be shipped over cheaper by just stuffing a whole container with just winds and tail surfaces, another one for cabs and engines.

Close. But I would rather have the engine on the rear. I don't like cloth for the skin and rather it be carbon filter and fiberglass.
@DanJohnsonAffordableAviation Жыл бұрын
You do understand this is composite, right? It does not have "cloth" on the wings.
@leefoster4133 Жыл бұрын
@@DanJohnsonAffordableAviation LOL, fiberglass or carbon fiber is more the same; sort of; with the use of epoxy. However, When I mean cloth am speaking of my dislike in sail cloth. I really don't like sail cloth as it wears down and in time; rips.
