A swan landed in the housing estate where i live at dusk..... the police and RSPB and RSPCA did nothing for the poor thing, he was very young probably just got chased off by mum and dad.....thanks to watching you guys i was able to approach him and pick him up, i popped a towel around him to stop him flapping in the car and drove him to the local reservoir...he was a good as gold and gave a little tail wiggle as he swam off.... i know exactly why you do what you do, the feeling i had after helping him was incredible.... you are an inspiration and a teacher 💕😊

It makes me really angry why dog owners can't use the amazing invention called the dog lead!!! No matter how well trained a dog is when the instinct kicks in it will attack a prey species but if its on a lead it can't get at things the same but off course dog owners are lazy & if the dog is on a lead you have to walk it further then if its off a lead running around.

I couldn't believe when I found out how much the government protects violent dog owners. If you set your dog on someone else's dog or livestock deliberately you only get a £2000 fine for it. I've been attacked several times and the gov does nothing so I just dont go to parks or beaches anymore and stick to roads. 50% of children get attacked by a dog at some point. 5m attacks per year in the USA. And yet it's not a big issue for politicians.

It was tough to watch. But you do know that had they not done that - the swan most likely would not have survived. It needed fluids, antibiotics and help with the wound which included surgery. Then quiet healing time, with vet attention. Without all that? I expect it would have quietly died.

Part of training is trusting them at some point, and expecting them to fail. Even the best trained dogs will have moments of forgetfulness. I also not saying this as an excuse, but to explain that it's the same mentality as riding a mororcycle: it's not if you get in a wreck it's when you get in a wreck.

There’s a public pond by my house that geese love to swim in.(sadly no swans) It always makes me upset when I see people walking their dogs without a leash. The dogs try to chase the geese and it scares them. Luckily, I haven’t seen a dog get a goose, but it’s still stressful for the geese to have a dog chasing them into the water. I wish people could be responsible with their dogs.

What is it recently with irresponsible dog owners? We have 3 collies and, although they are well trained, we don't let them off anywhere near wildlife (and try to avoid them so they aren't under stress). As usual, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners! It won't be long before a farmer will have to shoot a dog for worrying...then all hell will let loose. So happy you managed to save this magnificent swan. Our swan on Elterwater lake in the Langdales was not so lucky It happened a few years ago now but I will never forget how horrified we all were that a dog had been allowed to kill one of our beautiful pair on what is 'Swan Lake.'. We loved to walk for our lodge and see them every year.It was heartbreaking to see the lone swan after that. Educating people to understand the importance of controlling dogs in the countryside is vital. I love dogs.. I love wild animals .. Keep them apart please. Thanks for your great videos and your dedication

after that last one (when poor Laurie got soaked!) it just occurred to me; a donation of some waders -similar to fishermen- might help? I’m not sure as I don’t know how easy it is to move in them. so wish I could donate but I do what I can in posting them to social media (with hopes someone Will donate!!) thank you again.

Haha thank you! Waders are usually a little cumbersome and can be quite dangerous if the water overflows them, but Lawrie has just found his drysuit and wetsuit from his days as a SCUBA instructor. Hopefully that will help! :)

There is so much evil in humanity that things like this are just so beautiful to watch. Greetings from Italy.

Had little to do with the evil of humanity, hun. This was the work of a dog with a natural prey drive. This is nature at work.

@@fructosecornsyrup5759 to extend your opinion somewhat, EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING that happens under the sun is nature at work INCLUDED thoughts, emotions, having a concience and sharing publicly ones demeanour. @@lorenzonotarianni1667 🤷🏼‍♀️ Kind of hard to read in between lines when I'm not a mind-reader and can't see body language. Text really only goes so far.
