I really liked this movie and I was expecting it to have some kind of crazy twist like Andre being the first client (then intentionally getting himself killed to avoid the clone coming out) or Poppy being the first clone or the next client. I also expected him to get into a fight with the clone when he snuck back home and the family walk in and find out and argue about who the real one was. I’m kind of glad that it didn’t happen that way though it’s more of a “happy” ending and not trying to pull a crazy plot twist out of nowhere.

I thought that Poppy's brother was actually the "First Client" but something went wrong and they killed him, or that they were going to switch places and we'd see it at the end with that mole on the hand...

i think the plot thickener is that poppy was the first clone! they constantly mentioned there were 3 clones made and we met two of them so who was the first? when andre died she couldn’t handle it and she went MIA as they stayed. it also clicked when at the end the real cam was in bed saying bye to poppy and he said “i drifted”. she just kissed him and reassured them that they were happy. i think she knew already. which is believable because poppy was always smarter than cam knowing things that he didn’t know she knew (like the train chocolate echo seen). just a theory of mine

It was really hard for me to sit with this movie because I couldn't stop thinking about the science aspect. Medical & Health Technology had progressed so much that seamless clones were possible but curing his terminal illness was not.

I just turned 30 a few days ago. This movie hit me hard. It makes you face your mortality. It makes you wonder who you are, and what it means to be you. It's your memories and your body, and the experiences you create with the remaining time you have. It made me grateful. If you have any amount of good health, it means you still have some time left. It's something to be grateful for. The movie shows you how valuable the time you have left is. Really powerful movie. The ending credit song Moon River by Frank Ocean is incredible.

I’ve never written a review before, ever. I quite enjoy movies of all sorts especially ones that make me feel something. This made me feel something. Truly it made me feel everything. From the acting to the soundtrack, everything is moving. Your emotions are moving as well. Life becomes so clear in an instant. And all you can do is love, and be grateful to have loved and to have felt love, because everything can feel so fleeting, and in the end love is all we have

It took a while for the sweet pain to run through me all the while being grateful to have seen a movie that delicately turned away from making a horror of the inevitable. The metaphor of the swan song is perfectly in tune with parting, death, memory and agency, dissolving the boundary between our imagined technological prowess and the challenge of finding meaning in every breath we take.

Mahershala Ali does a masterful job of giving the viewer insight on what it would be like to make such a tough decision concerning your immediate family. Movie is visually stunning with the minimalist environments and superb architecture. Technology is believable with the exception of the human clone. Would have like to see more on this process however I understand the focus on the movie is about the emotion of making such a decision. Wish there was a little depth or explanation of the conflict between Glenn Close's character and her second in command. Otherwise this movie will make you think about how precious life really is. Also appreciate Awkwafina's humor to balance what is a dark movie at times.

I watched this movie because some odd short showed on my timeline that piqued my interest, and it was a pretty good movie. A couple of these really stood out. The words were not many for an average movie, but when they were spoken, they were deep and meaningful in each scene. Akwafina's presence in this movie, while little, was incredibly essential. She was the classic "left behind" character, and I appreciated that they made her satisfied with the decision she made, and she did not have any regrets. The cinematography was outstanding, especially in some scenes. At certain points, you were given the point of view of the characters and put in their shoes. I'll add this to my collection of movies that tell a unique story and will rewatch it.

I thought that the clone really got violent with the boy, and when Camron went home and the clone allowed him to meet with his son and drank apple juice, it cuts to the scene where Camron comes back to his wife, but it was not Camron who came back to his wife, it is actually the clone that came back to the wife thinking that he is Camron, because only the clone new that he had this violent attack that he had with the boy. He cry’s and tells his wife that he’s sorry for treating his son badly (this gives away that he is the clone). The real Camron used the watch of the lady doctor to erase the clone memories at the facility and he replaced him back! I also think that they aren’t really terminally ill and that the doctor that sends them to this place is in business with the lady doctor. The same doctor for all the clients that arrive there makes it suspicious. Theoretically, the clone might die before the patient from a car accident for example. And then it is a loose loose situation!

I came here to KZbin to see if anyone else had some crazy theories. I thought the twist was going to be that Cameron would find out he was a clone and wasn't the original Cameron. The doctor spoke of three clones. He was going to find out he had been Clone No. 1, but the attempt to fix his medical condition had failed and then, naturally, he came back to clone himself again, not knowing he himself was the first clone. Glen Close's character seemed bossy and spoke with urgency that this had to happen. I felt like she was desperately trying to fix her mistake. After reading a bunch of other theories, I think the writer/director may have left many ambiguous clues so all of us could come up with various theories, any of which are plausible. But at the end there is no shocking twist, which was refreshing. But there's many plot points that can point us toward other conclusions. My second favorite theory is that they were able to fix Cameron's condition, and at the end it's Jack back at the facility, watching Poppy say "I love you" not realizing Cameron made it back to his family. Jack doesn't realize he's Jack. After all, he tried to remove his freckle.

This film is wonderful because it has no crazy plottwist in the end. I realised that my sad feelings towards the end did not only came from Cameron dying alone, it was also because of… well, maybe our „phobia towards death“? I found myself (a life-loving human with no suicidal tendencies what so ever) thinking about a certain, indescribable beauty of death - the end of a cycle but, (according to most believe-systems) not the end of life. Is death, or in this case the loss of a loved one, really something that has to be avoided at all costs? Maybe… just maybe, death has also got the potential to proof to us, that love lasts longer than a human lifetime.

He spared his wife the pain of losing her husband, by cloning himself. Ethically I'm not sure which way to sway.. The truth is the clone is actually him, made by his DNA, and his memories, but at the sametime it is not him. So he has literally lied to his wife, some could say it is ok because he is doing it out of love and compassion for her. But then I think of what she would want, and I know for a fact she would not want her real husband to go away and die alone, and for her to live with a copy of him. But he gave her no choice in that matter, and let her live with the lie to save her the pain.. end of the day truth is the truth, but is it justified to not tell the truth if the motive is compassion? interesting topic.. peace

I would say it was some what justified because when Cameron was watching Jack talk to Poppy, she was saying how she was finally at peace with the loss of her twin brother and that if she were to ever lose Cam too, she wouldn’t be able to live on considering much losing her brother broke her

* SPOILERS* (Don't read unless you've watched the film) 😂Just coz everyone else is about to skip over the fact that the clone went mad and acted completely out of character when he launched the child's console at the wall, I'm not. I was waiting for some kind of an explanation & thought it would get cleared up when Cameron went home the last night & there would be some sort of showdown between him & the clone. The clone expressing how it was now his life and his family and Cameron was an intruder in his own home. I expected the clone to show Cameron how he dug out the one thing that made them different. His mole. Then Cameron to retort that Jack couldn't f*cking have them as they're HIS family. Culminating in them trying to kill each other and Cameron winning but Poppy running downstairs just in time to see one hubby dead and the other dying. Frantically she'd rush to Cameron laying there on the floor asking him what was going on through floods of tears. Then finally Cameron would explain what had happened and how this was his last heroic act for them. Leaving the moral of the story to be that there is no replacement for you. There is no replacement for a human life and honesty is the best policy when it comes to serious matters like this, ect ect lol but alas none of that happened. Also I'm confused and mad about the ending. Like wtf? Why did Cameron need to be shown that last clip of his wife like that? He could've been warned. It would've been gut wrenching and something to have viewed privately without eager onlooking eyes. At this point I wanted to see the new patient too. A lot of questions went unanswered. The acting was great tho & those gripes aside I thought it was a good movie & if there was a sequel I'd probably watch it 😊

"...the clone went mad and acted completely out of character when he launched the child's console at the wall..." pretty sure, that didn't actually happen. It was Cameron having a nightmare (the next scene is basically Cameron waking up). From what I got, that same nightmare is the catalyst that leads him to leave the facility and go check if the family is alright. Personally, I'm glad there was no crazy twist and that it didn't culminate in fisticuffs between Cam' and Jack. I find it would distract from the human/emotional journey both where on. While there are different interesting aspects that could be explored, ultimately the movie is a pretty self-contained story about Cameron's journey. At least, that's how I look at it : ).

Yeah, I suspect it's a dream. Another hint supporting that is the moment later in the bedroom, when Cameron tells the wife character that he had a bad dream in which he got angry at the kid and lost everything (I'm paraphrasing). Oh, I can totally see someone being disappointed by the ending. The movie's premise opens up the door for many moral, ethical, philosophical and political questions, yet it takes a more humble approach. It's only halfway through it that I saw it from a "emotional journey" angle. From then on, I was hoping it wouldn't get too convoluted, pretentious and/or bogged down (which it didn't, IMO). I don't really like when movies try to do more than they can handle 😅...
