Swapping the 350 in my square for a Vortec 4200

In this video I remove the 350 from my 84 Chevy k10 and bolt a Vortec 4200 in its place

It’s one of the best options for swaps imo . They make great power but the aftermarket is not great unless your making it . Other than that they are bulletproof and can be turbocharged to 700 hp size of it is great as well

About time 295hp stock and some smoothing of intake get even more HP my dad has a tb he hauls 800 gallon water tank every week and it has over 200k so it strong engine

Did you modify a 5 cylinder pan for rear sump? Also what hoist system do you have in your shed? That controller looks familiar.

it actually would have been easeir to get an external filter kit, but the tubular crossmember is cooler lol so i feel ya on the justification haha

They’re incredibly available as they came in many gm suvs like Trail Blazers and envoys

A bunch of oem parts availability, especially since they came in trailblazers, envoys, olds and saabs but there's not too much after market support since people are pretty much just starting to mess with the motors.

I am curious as to if you will need to run an ECM on it and what you going to use to provide the fuel pressure, and all the other basics stuff, just to get it to run?

going to be running a Microsquirt and putting in a new fuel system, in-line pump and filter. The truck was swapped to TBI so it already had that stuff but I don't think it was up to the task of running this 4200

Why not just swap a 4l80 or 4l60 to prevent all the issues with the bell housing not mating to the engine properly?

It was either bellhousing issues or driveline issues. In my opinion the bellhousing was the easier one to deal with

Thinking of a swap similar for my 63 Bel air ( drop the 327 and do a big turbo ameribarra swap) I'm also trying get a 73-80 c30 dually to dump a 1200hp Perkins 6.354 turbo diesel in it... Imagine that , literally sounds like an old Massey right next to you, but this bitch will pull down a house and drag it at 90

@jacobqueen1948 I haven't really started on the wiring, but I saved the entire harness. I'll probably use all the connectors and the injector and coil harnesses but I'm not sure about the rest of it

The 4200 inline 6 makes 275 hp with about same torque.It should move the s10 quite well.This motor is known to go 200k+ mi and still remain solid.
