I'd really like to see the 4200 start getting some aftermarket support. Good video and don't stress over editing too much. Nothing is worse the spending 4 hours on 20 minutes of content.

I often spend to much time editing, but thats part of the process i think. Getting better and faster as things go makes it alot easier tho. Aftermarket for the 4200 would be awesome, Until then I am going to need to learn alot more fab skills

Its not the easiest swap you could pick nor has it been the hardest.

A vortec 5.7 or an ls swap can both be done without much fab skills. the stock 4.3 can be made better as well. Cant loose any which way you go@@Arrozconchopsticks

I have a 2001 S10 4wd, and I want to do this swap! Mine won't be for racing though, it'll be a workhorse. I mainly want to do this for the efficiency and better power than the 4.3. I'd like to see if I can get near 25mpg highway and still be able to tow the 6000ish pounds the truck is rated for. Plus I'm just a fan of straight-6 engines in general.

4wd would be interesting, I wonder if you could swap out the stock diff on the blazer and use the one built into the oil pan on the 4200.

PARTNER THE ENGINE HE JUST PULLED OUT IS A 4200 VORTEC , THE BLAZER AND S-10 /S- 15 HAVE THE SAME FRONT END !! IN 2002 THEY CHANGED THE BODY-STYLE AND CONTINUED USING THE 4200 ON THE LT ,LTZ MODELS , THE SS BLAZERS HAD 5.3 , 6.0 V- 8 ‘S

The original blazer had a 4.3 not a 4200, it's a very tight fit to get it in there.

@@b_baker THE S-10 / S-15 ORIGINALLY WERE AVAILABLE WITH A 2.5 - 4 , 2.8 - 6 , 4.3 - 6 NOW THE VIDEO CONNECTED TO THIS PRESENTATION HAS A 4.2 L - I6 THAT HE IS PULLING OUT AND PUTTING ANOTHER ONE IN , I KNOW WHAT THE ENGINE IS I HAVE AN 02 TRAILBLAZER LT WITH THE I6 4.2 L !!! The video is my own, the blazer is not a trailblazer. When I bought it, there was a 4.3 engine in it as its the second generation s10/15 body style. The 4200 does come out of a trailblazer tho, which is the generation after the one you see in the video. I wanted to use the newer model motor in the older style blazer as kind of a mashup of the two! Hope this helps@@antoniohosino145

@@b_baker CHEVY HAD ALOT OF DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS S-10 / S -15 BLAZERS 83 - 91 BOXED , 92 ON WERE CURVED IN THE FRONT END , THE FRONT ENDS WERE THE SAME AS THE TRUCKS , IN NOV. OF 01 WE BROUGHT THE NEW 02TRAILBLAZER

He couldve used the flywheel and clutch from the 2.8 or 3.5 on the colorado it bolts and fits

The flywheel will not work on the engine, the bolt pattern on the crank is the same on the 2.8 and 3.5 but it is larger on the 4.2. I have the flywheel and clutch that came with the transmission and was going to machine it to fit myself but the larger mating surface of using a 10.5 sbc clutch and aftermarket flywheel was worth the added cost and piece of mind.

Good deal brother. I have started my first swap. Now that the kids are grown and gone. I finally back ro wrenching. Ls3/6L80 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It's a Ls3 cause I found the block for $500. Otherwise I'd be running a six ohhh lol. My next swap I'd like to drop a 4.2L into a Vic. I think that would be bad azz.

A 4200 Vic would be sweet!! Really anything swapped into a vic is pretty aweome, even just t5 manual swapping one make it soo cool. My little brother drove one for a while.

If I decide to manual swap it, I'll prob go with a TKX 5 speed. Or a CD0009 out of a Nissan 6 speed.

*Pro Tip:* Use shop towels in the back corners of the hood before you pull it to keep from scratching everything. Use them again before you set the hood on the floor. This is even more helpful when doing this job by your self.

@B_Baker Hey man this build is sick!! I currently have a 2012 Colorado with the AR5, and i'm pulling an 06 4200 from a TB, is there anyway i could contact you, or can you send me in the right direction for the flywheel setup your using. That is my only problem in this swap.

I made half the mounts. Stock 4.3 drivers frame, stock 4.2 passenger engine side.

lol a 10k toolbox and then 100 bucks in a HF lift that actually wants to harm you, cool project though. I am looking into running a NA 4200 in a project because of the narrower width.
