Good reball of the donor is the most important task. When it's meticulously done perfectly, chance of success is very high.

Awesome video. What is that thing with one orange and three blue buttons?

It's a preheater to heat up the PCB from the bottom. 😁

I think the original core might be ok... just needed reball.
@frazerxavier72956 ай бұрын
I still have the core. Maybe I will test it on another GPU and see if it's okay. 😀

No signs of damage on the old gpu as in ripped pads or cracks? I have 2 3070's and both have been running problem free for a couple of years. Great diagnosis and repair on your part.

Thank you 😁. No damage to the old GPU.

Anyone know where the memory straps resistors are located on this board?

It's shown in the video

In 2024, is the value off a 3070 really still worth the labor and core swap price?
@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql6 ай бұрын
Well it depends who you ask. They all have their own view. 😁

@@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql I just checked the completed listings of used Ventus 3070's on eBay. Seems that average is right around $250 USD. Is a core swap with labor much less than this? Also, what if the old core was actually still operational?
@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql6 ай бұрын
This repair cost this user about $75. The core was provided to me by the user. I have the old core with me. I will test it on another GPU.

@@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql I'm speechless of how much affordable this rework was. I would bet it wouldn't be less than $150 but it seems you are a reasonable person. I'm not in GPU repairs i do mostly laptops and I also value my work and skills but I'm also a pragmatist and I try to get in the customer's shoes. I always let customer know his options and the cost upfront so he decides how I will proceed and I always try to keep in mind the real value a device has for the market and the customer.

I have an old RX 470 4GB that I want to do some experimenting on. Can I remove the eight 512MB GDDR5 ram chips (512x8=4GB), and replace them with 1GB ram chips? Does that work?
@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql6 ай бұрын
Yes it will work. All you have to do is install GDDR5 1GB modules. And flash with 470 8GB BIOS.
